The best cheers coming from the student sections during the 21 games of the State Tournament came from Bridgeport and Bishop Donahue fans.

As Duke Coach Mike Krzyzewski left the Charleston Civic Center late in Bridgeport's 98-59 loss to Huntington in the Class AAA semifinals Friday, the Bridgeport fans briefly chanted, "VCU, VCU."

Krzyzewski's Blue Devils were eliminated from the NCAA Tournament on Thursday 79-77 by Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU).

I thought that was pretty funny...it was taken from the Charleston Daily Mail.

I read the same quote in the Charleston Gazette when I was home visiting my parents over spring break. Apparently, both the WVU coach and Coach K were at the game, and the West Virginia faithful were not happy about Coach K being at the game, trying to sign some homestate talent AWAY from WVU. I recall that the paper said 6 of Huntington High's players have signed or will sign with major D1 programs--OJ Mayo to USC and someone going to Oklahoma, for starters.
