They do have a point, you know. I was listening to ESPN radio this weekend, and they were talking about how the Big South holds the Eagles back...
...and threw out the CAA as a good fit.

CAA is big enough as it is, and Winthrop doens't have football...not gonna happen.

the question is- exposure for what, exactly?
they don't appear to want to expand at all- otherwise football would be the viable option.

The funny thing is that Winthrop used to be at the bottom of the big south just 9 years ago and now they get to move to the ACC or the SEC? They are a Gregg Marshall job away from falling back with the rest of the conference. Do not underestimate the value of a good head coach. And he had some help from Liberty's own Jeff Meyer for the 1st 3 years. Randy Peele is not Gregg Marshall. It will be hard to replace him if he jets this time for good. I don't see them going anywhere in terms of leaving the big south conference. Just my opinion though.
