Interesting tidbit about the coaching ranks: Quite often, after a head college coach's contract is announced to the public -- extensions included -- it goes unsigned by all parties for weeks or months at a stretch while reps on both sides hammer out the final details. This basically allows a coach to start work immediately on implementing his program w/o having to wait on the bean counters. Rarely does this become an issue but an exception that comes to mind was when Mike Price was fired from Alabama after 4 months on the job, he received no severance and lost his court case against the school b/c he had never actually signed his contract. There's also the case a few years ago of when Rick Comegy was hired away from Tuskegee to Norfolk State, he was on the job at NSU for three months and felt that many of the promises that the school had made to him were not going to materialize. Since he still hadn't signed the contract, he simply packed up and went back to Tuskegee.
All that said, I wonder if the ink is dry on CDB's new deal. It probaly wasn't on Graham's.
Still, if I'm a beach chicken, I'm not worried. Word has it that they've already lined up Chris Hatcher from Valdosta State.
