MOORE SUFFERS INJURY; OUT FOR SEASON
CHARLESTON, S.C. – Junior guard Chris Moore suffered a season-ending injury on Thursday, Charleston Southern head coach Barclay Radebaugh announced Thursday afternoon. It is the fourth player that the Buccaneer team has lost to injury, with Andrew Maples, Vernon Huger and Quinton Goods all suffering injuries prior to the season.

Moore is leading the Buccaneers in scoring, averaging 14.2 points per game, and has been the highest scorer in five games. Already this season, Moore had scored in double figures in 13 games, scoring 20 points on two occasions.

“Obviously this is a tough blow for our basketball program, Chris is a valuable member of team and is certainly one of better guards in the Big South Conference,” said Radebaugh. “This is a great opportunity to teach and display character as a coaching staff and as a team. Athletics aren’t always easy and life isn’t always easy, but this is a great opportunity to teach how to handle adversity through these circumstances over the last month that will hopefully lead to the development of strong young men that will leave this basketball program and make valuable contributions to society. We will take the available players that we have and do the absolute best to pursue excellence, and that’s certainly what we intend to do.”

The Buccaneers will be more dependent than ever on their eight newcomers to pick up the slack, as they travel to Lexington, Va., to face the Nation’s highest scoring team in V.M.I. on Saturday at 1 p.m.
