Tribe Announces 2007 Football Slate

W&M Opens 2007 Season Hosting Delaware for Thursday Night Game

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - William and Mary Athletics Director Terry Driscoll announced the College’s 2007 football schedule this afternoon.

The Tribe will open the campaign with a bang by hosting conference rival,Delaware, on Thursday evening, August 30th. The game with the Blue Hens will serve as both the first football game played under the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) banner and first Thursday night home game in school history. The CAA will encompass all of the same football playing schools that currently are representing the Atlantic 10 Football Conference.

The following two weeks see William and Mary playing out of the CAA as it travels to Virginia Military Institute (Sept. 8th) and hosts Liberty University (Sept. 15th) for the second of three scheduled night games. The Tribe travels to Blacksburg for its first visit to Virginia Tech since the 1985 season on Saturday, September 22nd.

After the match-up with the Hokies, the College will play its final seven games within the CAA, starting with a home game against Towson University on the campus’ Family Weekend (Sept. 29th). A pair of road trips ring in the month of October for the Tribe, as the Green and Gold will pay a visit to the Main Line and face Villanova on Oct. 6th, while the following weekend (Oct. 13th) the Tribe will make its first trip to the University of Maine since the 2002 season.

After a bye, the Tribe will host reigning conference champion the University of Massachusetts on October 27th on what will be the College’s Homecoming weekend.

The team opens what will be a difficult November by making the trek to Hempstead, N.Y. to play at Hofstra University (Nov. 3) for the first time since 2002. William and Mary returns home to face state-rival James Madison for a night tilt on November 10th and then will end the season by making the short drive to traditional rival, the University of Richmond on November 17th
