SEC-Big 10 Meeting

The SEC and the Little 10 have scheduled a meeting in Nashville to discuss partnership scheduling and both conferences getting 4 automatic bids in the playoffs. This might be dumber than NIL and Transfer Portal.
With a 12 team playoff, there will NEVER be a season where 4 Big 10 teams deserve to be in playoffs. Big 10 should be thankful their conference champion gets a bid, that in some years will be undeserved.

The bigger issue for us is their desire to have a scheduling agreement that would potentially eliminate G6s having access to play games against those two super leagues. If they come up with that type of agreement, we would be limited to playing games against the Big XII & ACC and other G6s.

Scheduling agreements between conferences are bad. You risk the chance of getting stuck into a bad situation, and lots of unbalanced schedules. As for SEC-Little 10, Penn State could end up playing at Alabama, while Ohio State hosts Vanderbilt. (no offense to Vandy)

We all know these two leagues are eventually going to break away from the NCAA. Just another step down the road.

I’ve always thought it would be interesting to leave an open date towards the end of October and have teams matched up at the mid season for a one off game.

They are nothing but money hogs, especially B10.

That is exactly where they are headed. I’m low key impressed how the B1G has negotiated the changing landscape
Also…..IU is undefeated in FB. Surprising several Hoosiers that there even WAS an IU football team

As an Illinois fan I hated when they went to 9 conference games and eliminated FCS opponents. I always preferred the SEC style model of playing 1 (usually weak) P5, 2 G5s and 1 FCS to help inflate the win/loss record since thats the only chance we ever had at a bowl game. Even then we would usually lose the P5 game along with our fair share of G5 games. Since the change was made I've seen the school invest more in football which led to an increase in talent level but there's not much to show for it because the schedules keep getting more difficult. The only way I'll like a SEC/B1G scheduling agreement is if they make the Arch rivalry an annual thing.

Kind of like how D1 MBB has done

Logistics are a tad easier in basketball.
