I don't think it's even close. Troy Smith wins hands-down.

Quinn and McFadden put up great numbers for teams that won a lot of games but Troy was just on another level.

quinn put up great numbers against poor competition. i would take mcfadden over him, but troy smith wins it in a walk.

Smith, no question. He was the best player on the best team. That is who this trophy has been going to.

Next year, he'd have a point. This year, no.

I agree with the prevailing sentiment that Smith wins by default. It's a big dropoff after last year when Reggie & Vince were so special.

If Brady Quinn didn't play for Notre Dame his name wouldn't even be mentioned in the race.

And for the record, I think McFadden is going to be great on the next level where I'm not buying the two QBs in the same vision. Both are tremendous college QBs, but they will have to surprise me on Sundays.

I agree about the two quarterbacks not being that great on the next level....Last season Vince, Cutler, and Leinart were all great quarterbacks; however, they are on another level compared to Quinn and Smith.

pbow, don't be upset WVU is playing for a nothing bowl.....maybe next season, or the next, or the next, okay never play for a BSC championship trophy.

Check out these numbers the quarterback from Columbus, OH put up this year-

3,278 yards passing
63.4% Completion percentage
7.9 yards per attempt
38 TD
5 INT
151.59 QB Rating

Wait...these numbers are Brady Quinn's! (He is from Columbus)

Troy Smith had 560 fewer yards passing and 5 fewer TD's vs. opponents with fewer wins than ND's.

I'm not saying Quinn should win. Smith led OSU to very impressive wins over Texas and Michigan, (something Brady couldn't do this year) but to say he is only getting attention because his a golden domer is not exactly a fair assessment of the situation.

By the way...

Troy Smith = not good NFL quarterback. He might be able to get into some games if he learns how to hold for the kicker.

Before I get jumped, I know this is about his college performance, I am simply making a statement about what he will (or will not do) at the next level.

his gawy #'s came against schools from the likes of army, navy, airforce, national guard, rotc...it lost to the only 2 ranked opponents it played....and they got destroyed....(penn st was garbage)

the only thing impressive about his #'s are the lack of int's..

troy smith's offense completely annialated opponents to the point where the game was out of hand by the 1st half....

macfadden will not be drafted as a qb...he'll be a decent rb in the nfl.

quinn will shine in the nfl i think...hes a 1 yr backup and then i see him step into a starter role...

troy smith will do well in the nfl...he has great mobility adn has good accuracy....he won't run as much as young but i bet by the end of both careers he has the better #'s...

Interesting opinion...but you prove my point.

Yes, Quinn did have good games against Army (3-9), Air Force (4-8), and Navy (9-3). Yes, Navy was 9-3. While ND was beating up on the service schools, Ohio State was taking on the all-impressive MAC. They did handle Northern Illinois and Bowling Green while taking time to test their clout against Big East powerhouse Cincinnati. Smith's other impressive wins included Indiana (5-7), Minnesota (6-6), and Northwestern (4-8). Let us not forget the Heisman clinching performance against the stout Illini defense (2-9) where he had 123 passing yards with 0 touchdowns and 1 INT.

Oh, and that Penn State team that you said was garbage....ND put up 41 points on them. OSU had 28.

Everyone plays cupcakes! The point is that Smith won the big games and he deserves the Heisman for that simple fact. I think Brady Quinn is a better QB, he just didn't have the o-line or the running game this year. Put him on a team like Ohio State, and this is not even close.

they had similar run games...in fact, i'd say walker is a better back than pittman....their o-lines are comparable as well...and troy smith just did it with lesser wr's than quinn.... to say put quinn on OSu and its not even close is completely laughable....

this is pretty random, but this statement made me think of this...I have a friend who is a huge Notre Dame fan...and one day he was going on and on about how ugly the USC cheerleaders are....then they showed them on tv and we all were telling him he is on crack and stop being a complete idiot with notre dame...i pray that he doesn't think brady quinn deserves this thing....i don't think he is quite that blind
