I dislike the other 6 teams.

Oklahoma over UCLA.

Man, VT looked awful. Can’t say I’m surprised: highly overrated all season long.

VT apparently made reservations for OKC after beating Florida on Friday. VT was overconfident Saturday and Sunday. They were not ready to play game 3. Florida coach did good job "coaching up" the Gators.

No coaching was even necessary. VT just rolled over and played dead.

Agreed. In drama class, we call that having "stage fright." VT was ONE win away from making the College World Series and playing on their home field, but they basically wet/crapped their bed on national TV--twice!

At some point, the NCAA will move the WCWS and the Land Thieves won't have their recruiting advantage any more. Until then ...

Just one game. We let them wear themselves out hitting all of those homers. All part of the grand strategy.

Keep telling yourself that. We’re watching one of the greatest players on one of the greatest teams in the history of the sport. (Mostly due to covid.)

So with that logic, Nebraska should have the best baseball program in the nation...Boomer !!!

Nebraska does well for being in a mid major baseball conference far from any recruiting hotbeds.

But home field advantage - playing close to Omaha should have them 6 titles in the past 10 years...Big Ten = mid major ? Ha. Your words not mine...

Congrats to the Land Thieves. They deserve all of the accollades being given to them.

But it is apples to oranges with softball and baseball. One softball pitcher can dominate in ways that no baseball player can achieve. Not even Ohtani.

Once upon a time there was a reason to permanently place the WCWS in OKC. There were not adequate facilities elsewhere in the nation. That is no longer a valid excuse. Put the event out to bid. And I know this is sacreligious, but the same should be done for baseball. Omaha has lived on that gravy train long enough. Having covered the entirety of both events over the years, the Omaha community does handle things much better than the Dirt Burglars.

It is in baseball/softball although it improved from a 1 bid league to a 4 bid league in the last 10 years. Obviously isn't the case in the revenue sports.

What other softball stadium holds anywhere near 13,000 people? There are definitely some nice stadiums out there such as ours but they all have a fraction of the capacity that the Oklahoma stadium has. Baseball is a little different because there are plenty of MLB stadiums around but idk if a MLB team would want to play road games for 2 weeks straight while the CWS is happening. Again, there are some beautiful baseball stadiums around the country but there aren't many that are available and has the capacity to host a tournament of this size. I just don't think we are at the point yet and won't be for awhile.

You don't need 13k if you don't have a home team filling the stadium every year.

As for baseball, two week road trips are not uncommon over the years. But that is assuming that you need a MLB park. While Rosenblatt has 23k, you could easily split two brackets between two minor league stadiums (10-15k each) and have the championship series at a MLB ballpark. This is not crazy talk. Omaha does a phenomenal job hosting the CWS. But if you opened it up for bids there could be some better alternatives.

Yes, let’s kill all tradition and central geography for the sake of revenue...

The CWS and WCWS will still have plenty of tradition without being tethered to Omaha & Oklahoma City.
