Alright folks, Louisville wins in a close one 10-9
Louisville gets off to a bangup start as Brian Brohm goes 5-5 and Anthony Allen punches it in from a yard out to put the Cardinals up early. After that, it was like the 4th of July. Heisman finalist Darren McFadden goes 86 yards for a touchdown to tie it. Louisville scores on the ensuing kickoff, only to have Arkansas do the same. The defenses held firm for the remainder of the first half and the teams went into the locker room tied at 14.
Then the fireworks began again in earnest in the second half. Brohm hits leading receiver Harry Douglas for a 35 yard score to put the Cardinals up again 21-14. Then Casey Dick hits McFadden on a screen play and 40 yards later...paydirt 21-21. Arkansas goes for the onside kick, and recovers. McFadden then hits Casey Dick for a 20 yard score to take the lead. Brohm then hits Mario Urrutia for a touchdown to tie the game again. The teams would then trade the next 8 touchdowns. With the score tied 49-49 it was a matter of who would have the ball last. Well, after a McFadden fumble in Louisville territory, Brohm marched the Cardinals 55 yards and Lou Groza award winner Art Carmody drills a 43 yard field goal as time expires...final score Louisville 52 Arkansas 49.
