Wouldn't they still play a ASUN/WAC schedule next season?

Yes, they should still be on ASUN schedules for another year. Due to the craziness of the past few weeks that is all a confusing mess. They should be getting their football slate for the fall together rather quickly and the olympics have until the summer to get organized. I suspect there likely will be some friendly scheduling by their new league mates to help fill a hole or two.
You will remember that we played out our Big South schedule in our first year of transition without any playoff or title possibilitiies even though our games counted in league results.

Even though I wasn't a fan of being in the ASUN, I'll add that Gumball and the ASUN are very classy. I hope that CUSA 4.0 will be as well, and allow JSU & SHSU to at least compete for CUSA Championships (even though I expect we'll win most of them
).
