I saw this in the morning paper and KNEW Ballcoach would start a thread about this. I'm just shocked that it took him until the afternoon to post it. He also said NOTHING about how they don't belong in the ACC, so maybe he's changed his mind on that one.

I WILL NEVER change my mind on why Louisville should not be in the ACC. I am not an academic person, but even I know Louisville is a bad academic school, when compared to other ACC schools. Louisville has always been on the sleazy side. Why the ACC let them in is still puzzling to me.

As for UNC, the ACC commissioner is a UNC guy, and the NCAA likes the ACC, thus they did not want to make waves.

Cheating in recruiting has been happening for a long time, yet NCAA "looked the other way", pretending it wasn't happening. When someone gets caught, lower the boom on them. It took FBI investigators to open up just how bad the cheating is.
And if someone does get caught, NCAA goes light with punishment. Hand out post season bans of 3-5 years.

Absolutely correct. Taking it one step further, they really do nothing to punish the people who DID commit the crime, which are (in most cases) FORMER coaches, who have either been fired or actually moved on to greener pastures before the shoe dropped. The punishment for them is in the form of "show-cause" orders, which make it more difficult for them to get another job. IMHO post-season bans only hit the target if there is a "lack of institutional control" that goes all the way to the top. They still affect a lot of people who are innocent, including uninvolved players and new coaches who have done nothing wrong.
