Is VMI good, or is the SoCon at a historical low?

VMI is on track to finish at least .500 for the first time since 2003, after 15 straight losing seasons. Reading the article, it appears the SoCon has dropped off dramatically more than VMI actually improving. No SoCon team has a winning non-conference record:

They haven't had a winning season since 1981. That's incredible.

They have a good chance to make it three in a row against mercer this weekend. Mercer has been historically bad this year.

Regardless of the schedule, Wach is doing a great job there this year.
