The Golden Eagles take out the #3 team in the nation, 78 to 71.

Nice.

The greatest thing about Oral Roberts beating Kansas tonight: being able to say, "I always thought Oral was good." (And yes, I liked that joke so much, I put it on like 5 people's facebook before I put it on here)

Another faith based school that has found a way to land recruits and be competitive with the upper level of Division 1. Now LU can't use the "God or Social Atmosphere" excuse card as to why it can't field nationally competitive teams in the Big Two Moneymakers, Basketball and Football. The Catholics have been able to do it (Notre Dame), the Mormons have been able to do it (BYU), the Methodists (Duke), and now the Pentecostals (Oral Roberts)...its probably about time Liberty joined the party.

Yea for Pentecostals

(now I'm running to hide under a rock so I'm not killed)

LU has no chance against ORU. Peterparker has a great point. They (ORU) are getting great recruits and competiting against the upper D1 teams. LU needs to look to them as an example of how to recruit.

cmon now peter, one win over a nationally ranked opponent and they can compete consistently with upper level D1 schools? granted ORU has a much better tradition in hoops with 3 NCAA appearances, 7 NIT titles, and 3 conference titles, but im not ready to just give them that they can hang with every top level D1 school. i would love to play these guys every year though.

A big win by ORU can do nothing but help our RPI when we play them. In terms of seeding in the dance, it is going to be all about the RPI for any team but Winthrop gaining anything other than a 15 or 16 seed. The ORU weekend should be a great test to see how quickly the team is coming together.

If any team in the Big South goes to the dance besides Winthrop, they won't get anything other than a 15-16 seed regardless of RPI.

Wasn't it H-burg who was the ORU fan for a day at the NCAA Tourney a couple years ago?

As for ORU's success, they are one of only four major programs in the State of Oklahoma. And the two Big XII schools recuit primarily in Texas and nationally. That means ORU recruits primarily for in-state school with crosstown rival Tulsa. It helps that they are in a good basketball league.

All I am saying is the Blue Devils will quietly make there way into the top 5 by next week at the rate of upsets that are happening so far.
