So would they move to the Pioneer League? Or would they move all sports to Division III, like Birmingham Southern did a decade ago?

They want Division I status but recognize that they cannot be competitive with the status quo. It might essentally wind up being a swap between PC & Campbell.

So Big South football is essentially going to be half full members and half associate members.

Gardner-Webb is in the same boat.

Besides us, High Point is the only school in the BS who can afford athletics and spend money to be competitive in the mid major ranks. I know some will disagree but We (LU and HPU) should just switch over to the ASUN. Better sports, better markets, and more schools that has the resources to compete.

Yeah, G-W is watching PC's decision-making process very closely. Winthrop is not far behind HPU in athletic investment. The dropoff beyond those two schools is substantial.

According to my sources, Campbell has the resources too. Making big investments in athletics.

Meanwhile, I am still trying to figure out why BSC allowed Longwood into the conference, with no football team.

Another example in a long list of schools that want to have the D1 label attached to them but have no business being D1.
