I admire a coach who sticks it to the man before the man can stick it to him. This should set a good precedent for coaches who have a good body of work and whose schools won't renew their contract until the proverbial "after the season" evaluation. The guy has a good record, has a good class coming in and now can feel free to be on the market and coach to win, instead of coaching for a contract extension. Since the school is the one dragging their feet, then that screws the entire program, as who the heck is going to want to look at the Colo. program when they know the current staff won't be around. Good for you, coach!
(of course, Colo has a new AD and a new President, and they may want to make their own mark on the program--but to leave a successful coach dangling like that is just plain dumb).

Sly, this is a Big 12 school. What do your sources say?

Nobody in Colorado cares about CU basketball much less down here in Texas. He's a decent coach who has a rep as a bit of a hothead. He's done a decent job recruiting but hasn't been able to turn the corner in the Big XII. I admit this is a rather gutsy move. I'm guessing there will be a mad rush to snare his recruits.
