First off, its great to see us not in the cellar. But here are the somewhat surprising standings:

1. Birmingham-Southern ......... 9-1
2. Winthrop ............................ 8-2
3. Coastal Carolina ................. 5-4
4T. High Point ......................... 5-5
4T. Radford ............................. 5-5
6T. Charleston Southern ........ 4-6
6T. UNC-Asheville ................... 4-6
8. Liberty ................................ 2-7
9. VMI ..................................... 2-8

Its interesting that CCU is 2-0 against heavy league favorite Winthrop but just 3-5 against the rest of the conference. Go figure.

If anyone said after they lost by 41 to Winthrop to open the conference season, that BSC would win 9 straight, all by double-figures, they would've been laughed at....Unpredictability is what makes sports fun...

Winthrop (temporarily?) off the bracket

uh oh- as of 2/6 Birm. Southern is currently the BSOUTH rep, projected as a #15 seed vs. #2 Indiana in the Dayton regional.

THATS gonna agitate some people, though I'd be surprised if Winthrop isnt back in there come tourney time. ya never know!

No surprise there....he bases his automatic tourney bids on the team that is in first place at the time, and on Monday (when they did that), BSC was alone in first (before losing later that night)...

it seemed kinda odd. You think they'd pull Duke that quickly?

Yeah, he treats every conference the same in that respect...the only difference is, whoever is in first place in the ACC would be in anyway (999 times out of 1000) as an at-large team, so their automatic bid projection isn't as noticible because Duke would be in the field regardless...

Since he's basing his bracket on a 'if the season ended today' mentality and since there hasn't been a conference tourney played, he just takes the assumption that the team in first place earns the automatic bid...
