Bunting is fired. He'll stay to the end of the season but he's still fired.

C'mon Paul Johnson. Dick needs to go after him.

Do you think he can handle a move from the Naval Academy to the ACC?

its about time. But Bunting did have some good wins. Miami is the most notable one.

i do not see paul johnson coming there. he loves the naval academy. it will be interesting to see who the new hire will be. not a better guy than john bunting...he is a loyal carolina guy, but not enough wins and not being competitive really did him in. carolina fans be patient, it will take a bit of time to turn it around.

I wish they would have fired him a couple years ago and gone after Spurrier.

Spurrier hates Carolina.

I want PJ bad. I don't know if he'll come but I don't think any of the others on the list will (Rodriguez from WVU, Butch Davis, the guy at BC).

Butch Davis has proved he can get it done in the college ranks. I bet there will be a bidding war between UNC and the U for his services.

From what I've read, the trustees are willing to shell out some cash so UNC is competitive at football.

key word...competitive. I just do not see carolina digging that deep. they will always be a basketball school first. i know they have deep pockets, but i just do not see butch davis coming. keep in mind who the chancellor and AD are. they have made some bad calls before.

We need to chop Dick off at the head.

Well throwing money at a coach is one thing, but they better hire one heck of a recruiter if they want to compete with the Elite ACC teams and have a shot at a top 25 . I don't know anything about UNC football facilities, but we all know great facilities and a change in direction can change the landscape for recruiting.

Kenan Stadium is old, but a great place to see a game. They made the horseshoe at the one end in recent years, and built the fieldhouse at the other end just before that (I think).

agreed that it is a good place to watch a game, but other than the newer enclosed end, they have crammed the seats in there. they have metal backs on the seats and they just get into your knees. still a nice stadium, and when it is sold out, it is very loud!

There is already talk down here that the Board at Miami and Butch have already been talking. There was a report that Davis would like to return if the position is offered. Many people down here are already anticipating his return and are welcoming of it.

UNC will not spend the money for a top tier football coach. They had one with strong teies to the Triangle (Sally's real estate company) who they weren't willing to spend money on. If they can land Butch that would be their best case scenario. There is no way Rich Rodriguez is leaving WVU for Chapel Hill.

If I was the AD for the Tarholes, I'd be wining and dining Butch Davis as much as the NCAA allows.

As desiring as the Miami job would be for Butch Davis to return to, the Holes desperately need a guy
that can recruit and Davis is surely one of the best.

They also have one of the top quarterback recruits in all of the country coming in. Should be interesting
whoever they bring in.

See, I think you're wrong. They see what could've been with Mack Brown and the old money at North Carolina wants that. They may not get national championship caliber but they're going to get a coach that will make them a perenial top-25 team. They have the facilities and the money to do that. Football is the only sport UNC is not good in, and the trustees want to change that. UNC has one of the top teams in every other major sport (men's and women's soccer, men's and women's basketball, and baseball). For people to say it can't be done, that just shows their blatant hatred of UNC or their obvious bias of another team. Dook was competitive when they had Spurrier. All it takes is one good coach to change things.

from what i've heard, the AD ain't makin the call on this one. i was told that a search committee or something was formed, and the board was deciding? i also heard that unc was gonna offer 2 mil a year to davis. thats all hearsay, so you can take it or throw it right back!

Dude, I told you that on Friday night.

The deal was made Friday night or Saturday. Butch Davis even wore a Carolina blue tie on the NFL Network on Saturday.
