How did CCU get around the 15,000 fan average per game that's required to move up ?

The NCAA hasn't shown a history of holding teams accountable to that rule.

EDIT: Duke's answer was better.

A school with a 9000 seat stadium should not be FBS. I wish NCAA would put a stop to CCU moving up because of their high school stadium.

The last thing anyone needs is more NCAA involvement in who gets into the FBS. CCU clearly has their work cut out for them. But thankfully for them, they have a coach who appears willing to use his personal wealth to make things happen. I wish them nothing but the best even thogh it makes our current situation even more dire.

Is there any actual confirmation that Moglia has already or intends to contribute personally to CCU´s football/athletic program in any substantial way? I don´t doubt it, but personally have not heard anything concrete about it. In any event, if the SBC is counting on his being around for long, I think they are investing in fool´s gold. This guy clearly has higher aspirations, as he should, and I just don´t see him getting there at Coastal. If he has another year or 2 like the past couple, a much bigger fish will be available to fry.

And while they're at it, they should put a stop to teams claiming "co-champions". lol

There should never be co-champions.

(see Big 12 Conference. it cost someone a playoff spot and gave Ohio State a playoff spot)

Umm, you realize Ohio State DID win the playoffs last year, right? I think its safe to say they earned their spot.

See we don't disagree on everything. I think you are spot on

Moglia has said multiple times he won't personally give to Coastal while he works there. To imply differently is simply wrong.

Flames Nation is compiling all of our frustrations in one spot so BYD can use them in his court case against the SunBelt.

Jon, he did say that, do you really believe it? I am inclined not to, there are ways around it, trusts, give money to another part of the school to free up general fund money, etc. I have always wondered about the veracity of his statements regarding this. It would be difficult for me to be part of the school, have all his money, and not contribute. Of course we are all different and what I would do, doesn't mean he feels the same way.

I absolutely believe him. He's a CEO. He doesn't think like the rest of us. He understands the importance of checks and balances and proper procedures.

Now, once he leaves and either moves on to another school and/or retires, I have no doubt he'll start giving back to Coastal and likely in a large way.

I'm not sure how many F500 CEOs you have been around, but that's not how you get to be CEO ... especially in the financial sector.

Chuck Burton gets a ton of grief but his point about the financial challenges that Coastal is now facing have some merit. In a time when budget money from the state is not going to start suddenly flowing, they have to come up with new revenue streams. To assume the guy who would most benefit from this move is not willing to chip in for this once in a lifetime opportunity seems suspect. If he is not helping them out, they have even bigger challenges ahead of them.

Love ya man, but if being a CEO makes you believe him, or gives him any creditably, you need to re-think this thing. I have worked directly for 3 Fortune 500 CEO's and have been around many more. It is harder to find a decent/honest person in that group than a virgin in a brothel. Not saying good CEO's don't exist but.....................................................
And you are correct on this point, they don't think like the rest of us.

I'm not saying I believe him because he's a CEO. I'm saying because he's a CEO, he understands the importance of checks and balances and proper procedures. If you've followed him at all while at Coastal - and I have because his message/story is very intriguing - you'll see how much emphasis he puts on doing the right thing and handling yourself the right way.

I wonder if Coach Joe has any trust funds, mutual funds, etc...where his assets are that are managed by someone else.

Who cares about Joe and all his money. The amount of money 1 person, even the wealthiest of persons, would be willing to funnel into a school is inconsequential to this whole ordeal. That's not even taking into account this isn't his alma mater and he's not a CCU lifer.

Let me rephrase it to better explain what I was trying to say because I didn't do a good job earlier.

I believe him. Because of the skills it takes to be a CEO (checks and balances, proper procedures, etc) along with the character he's shown while at Coastal, I believe he won't give money until after he moves on from Coastal. To me, it's not simply because he's been a CEO. It's the combination of that leadership along with the message he preaches to his players that leads me to believe if he says something, he means it.

Jon is the ignorant one in this situation. I'm not saying he has but to rule it out is gullible.
