Say it Ain't So, Scribe!

It appears we are losing our incredible beat writer once again. This time Chris is headed to a cushy gig in Richmond covering golf 24/7. We have been blessed beyond belief to have such a gifted writer covering the Flames for so long. He's better than many of the major market writers I know down here in Texas.

Thank you for everything, Chris!

Liberty has been fortunate to have him on the beat for two separate stints. Best of luck, Mr. Lang.

We were lucky to have him as long as we did. Truly the best writer in FCS in my opinion. He's the NDSU of beat writers. So far ahead of everyone else and better than many FBS writers.

Enjoy your new gig, Chris. You deserve it.

Sorry to see you go, but happy for you. So before you go: how many football season tickets have we sold this year and in the HCTG era?

LU was truly lucky to have Lang covering the athletic program. I am happy for him though. Moving to Richmond from Lynchburg is a pretty good move as I can attest. Good Luck Scribe!

Sold a house there. I'm in the Atlanta suburbs as I type. I doubt Lang would have been interested in my house as a single guy though even though the neighborhood is maintenance free. I'm sure Lang and I will be catching up in person at a VCU game or two. Maybe Dec 27? (LU @ VCU).

Thanks for the kind words, everyone. As you all know, the news business is volatile right now, and this was too good of a move for me professionally and financially to pass up. Working normal hours for the first time in my adult life was an appealing part of the position as well. Damien Sordelett will slot into my spot, though I'm going to finish up strong here the next two weeks. The Delaware State game will be my last, and Damien will take over full time after that.

We will have to connect in Richmond when I come back up my friend. LU is in good hands with Damien as well.

+1. We'll still be in good hands. Different hands, but good ones.

You won't even say hi at Ballyhack at the State Open? That's cold.

I will echo everything that everyone has said about Lang. He was a consummate professional and did a fantastic job with covering the athletic scene at Liberty. I'm glad to be back covering LU since that was the reason for me joining The News & Advance staff back in late 2012. That near year of covering the Flames, plus being able to watch Lang work in person and how he spent countless hours devoted to providing accurate and timely news, will help me get back into the flow. Plus, I have a blog on the website now, so I can at least do my best to match the amount of content Lang produced on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.

And, I was relieved to see that I was liked among the LU faithful. It won't be too terribly long before I'm gearing up for the trip to Morgantown.

I enjoyed reading your work and your willingness to know about the Big South as a whole. Good luck with your new position.

Guess I will be hashing out tiebreaker scenarios on my own now.
