To little surprise, FSU dismisses QB De'Andre Jordan.

Considering how long they held on to Jameis it sort is. It also goes to show you can't get away with as much if you are a 3rd stringer

But he´s a 3rd stringer who threw 2 touchdown passes in the Spring game. This was very likely their QB of the future. It makes you wonder if FSU has been completely ignoring character in their recruiting process. I think in a program like FSU now, or Miami back in the day, at some point the reputation for bad behavior becomes self-perpetuating. Kids that otherwise wouldn´t, do stupid stuff because they feel like it´s expected of them.

I don't know if that is fair. JW had the appearance of being a "fine young man." Until.

The video is why he is gone. Had the video not existed he'd still be there. He was the guy for the future. I'm a long time Florida State fan but as I get older I am less and less forgiving of their shortcomings. It's been going on for years and years and is not just a jimbo thing.

Man - I'm so sick of hearing about how bad FSU is and how tolerant they are... To even compare this to what Winston did is ridiculous!! This guys punched a women and it was caught on tape, Winston had sex with a girl... Oh yeah - he had a friend give him older crab legs at a grocery (notice - I used to work at a Publix and we gave away old crabs and meat that was expired and unsellable)... And even worse - he stood on a table in the student union and sang a song. I've been to FSU - it's a party school and lots of people are drinking and having sex...

This was way worse and had nothing to do with FSU and more to do with kids being in a bar and an individual being an idiot.

I'll agree that the comparison is flawed. However, that certainly isn't a very accurate description of Winston's actions either. It was more than sex with a girl, it was more than just simply being given crab legs, and it was much more than simply singing a song in the student union. Again, I won't disagree about the comparison. But it's fairly asinine to argue that Winston is innocent in all three instances.

Although I do agree with him, b/c unless an athlete of legal age knows when to stop, overconsumption of alcohol slows down cognitive function and physical performance on the field/court for almost 24 hours.

There may be anecdotal evidence to the contrary. Just saying

I have noticed that over the years, when an athlete gets in trouble, it's normally after midnight, in wee hours of the morning. This is true both in NCAA and the professional ranks.
Sounds to me as if there should be a midnight curfew. I have always maintained that anyone out after midnight is "up to no good". (unless they are coming from work or a ball game and on way home). I'd like to see a law requiring all bars to close at midnight.

Yeah, I completely disagree. I've been out past midnight many times, and after graduating LU it often did not involve work or ballgames. No trouble whatsoever.

These two incidents of players punching women in the face happened on back-to-back nights. The backstory on both of these is even more disturbing. I get football players and how they act in college towns. But the culture of athletes ruling the town generally turns ugly in a hurry. See Missoula.

FSU, in response to rumors that a judge is about to revoke their trademarked nickname, mascots and athletic symbols, will re-name themselves the Criminoles. They will only use jumpsuit orange with black lettering as designs for their uniforms, with "throwback," uniforms being black and white stripes.

Then people will just convene at a private, residential bar or anywhere else they can get liquored up easily outside their own home.
