Strange that with everything else at LU and with all the basketball facilities we have that the basketball all star game will be at LC. :dontgetit

Also a bit surprising that they would let them use the brand new turf at the Bill before it is even broken in.

LC actually accomodates the basketball better. The Vines, which may be being used for something else, is too big and the practice facility doesn't accomodate spectators

Yes, the Vines is big for what will no doubt be a relatively small crowd. Same could be said for the Bill, and there are smaller venues in town that would be a better fit if that is going to be the determining factor.

Watched the All Star softball game yesterday. The pitcher from King William High School, Kayla Huffman who committed to Radford, struck out 14 batters in 6 innings.

Division I basketball is in a recruiting dead period on the date of the basketball all-star games, therefore, they can't be held on a DI campus. Every other sport is in a quiet period or a contact period, so it's OK. At least that's what I've been told by a coach.

Anyone know why scoreboard was not working for All star game last night ?

Concessions only had one stand open. Lines were slow and long.

Not good stadium operations to say the least.

I don't know about the scoreboard but the concessions stand is because no students were on campus to work them.

LU has an enrollment well over 10K, you telling me they couldn't find a handful of local students to work?

Whoever was in charge did not put forth enough effort to find enough workers to open more concession stands. They probably just assumed one would enough. There was a continuous line from concession stand back across the concourse the entire game. I know some who wanted to go to concessions but did not because of the long lines.

They probably could, but if most are already working on campus, allowing them to work these games while keeping them under 29 hours/week (thanks Obamacare) would require some major scheduling gymnastics.

That's not a logical assumption.
