Tyson was fun
Holyfield was a freak
Lewis was boring
The Klitchco (sp) brothers had promise.

There have been quite a few excellent boxers since Ali. I think that the May 2 matchup is going to be an entertaining fight, but Mayweather-Pacquiao should have happened at least 5 years ago.

10 would have been prime. And the sad part of this fight is that hardly anyone will see it. Greed on behalf of all parties puts this out o the reach of the casual sports fan. We'll see a few stills on Sportscenter and it will gone from our memory within five minutes like an NHL PLayoff game.

I don't know. An estimated 3 million people are going purchase it. Many more are going to illegally stream the fight online, like any PPV.

The networks were willing to ante up about half what everyone will make in PPV. If the longterm viability of the sport were in consideration, they would have made a few less millions and revived interest in a sport that has joined bowling and pro beach volleybll as complete afterthoughts in the American sports psyche. Granted it remains a viable sport primarily in Europe & Asia. But it is only a matter of time before MMA changes even that position.

I would argue it already has. Although MMA is in danger of over saturation as no one brand (Sorry Dana) dominates and is slowly becoming like boxing with all its different 'champions'

Well.......I am a boxing fan and excited about this bout.

#1, Manny is already a winner since becoming a Christian some years ago. He has handled the press very well for this fight and he has been a great witness for the Lord. From "sleeping in the street" poverty in the Philippines to being world champ in eight weight classes, he has a very inspiring life story.

#2, "Money" Mayweather is the most talented boxer of his generation who has wasted more money than "The Old Time Gospel Hour" ever had. He is the richest athlete in sports and epitomizes the worst part of materialism and living to excess. Besides beating up his baby mommas and having his own bodyguards beaten and hospitalized because he mistakenly accused them of stealing, his greatest character flaw may be that he is friends with Justin Bieber.

The fight: Mayweather is unbeaten and PacMan has lost recently, including by knockout.

Pacquiao can swarm with volumes of punches. He has great speed and stamina.

Mayweather is a superior counterpuncher and has knockout power.

Pacquiao excels at offense, Mayweather excels at defense.

Both of the fighters are very smart in the ring. They are the best for a reason.

Mayweather is taller and stronger but our David (a.k.a. Manny), has five smooth stones and a sling, namely his faith. Make no mistake, a win by Pacquiao would give him a HUGE worldwide platform to speak about his faith in Jesus the Christ.

My heart wants PacMan to win, my head tells me Mayweather will remain undefeated.

My guess is that the fight should live up to the hype and Mayweather will win by decision.

Not a huge boxing fan, but I would LOVE to see the cockiest, most obnoxious professional athlete on the planet get his face beat in by Manny Pacquiao.

If the referee is tight on clinches and doesn't let them fight out of it, Mayweather wins. If he allows them to fight out of it PAC Man wins

Anybody that pays 100 bucks for a fight is an idiot.

that's all I have to add to this conversation.

Not that big of a deal. If you get five dudes together it's only $20 a person.

I wouldn't pay it, but some people would.

And people would say the same thing about paying $20 to go see an FCS game.

Well, I was half right. The fight did not live up to the hype and Mayweather wins by a decision.

Couldn't have possibly picked a worse way to waste my time than I did by watching that boxing match.

Of course that makes it better but still seems like a wast. To me the fight and the money involved represents all that is wrong in sports and the people willing to pay that much for it just continue to drive it.

don't worry, this fight was a friendly reminder to those who were tricked into the hype to not ever let that happen again. Boxing is dead. the sanctioning bodies and corruption have been the bullets. welterweight boxing is calculated point accumulation as a general rule of thumb and heavyweight boxing is full of unrecognizable persians and wilder is boring.
