This took much longer to go down than expected. That leaves some big shoes to fill at a VERY difficult assignment in Lexington.

That's an interesting move. Maybe he's angling for the Army job in a few years.
Does this put Jason Allison on the clock?

You have to think Jason will get serious consideration. He proved he could recruit talent to VMI, which despite it's academic reputation, has to be one of the toughest sells in D1.

With no inside knowledge whatsoever I would say Daniel Is will go hard after this job. He has been with Duugar since before VMI and he may think it's time to be a head guy. Jason will get strong consideration.

If VMI hasn't already been on the phone with Allison, they're crazy.

VMI Keydets.com wrote:“We started this process committed to several things,” said Diles. “First, to identify a Head Coach that would represent VMI with dignity and understand, and embrace, the unique mission of the Institute. Second, to find someone with high intelligence, and previous experiences that have served as the appropriate foundation for assuming this leadership opportunity. And finally, to determine who best developed and communicated a plan for advancing VMI basketball. Coach Earl quickly emerged as our top candidate.”
