HUGE fight during the UMiami/FIU game tonight....it was really out of hand...kind of funny, but it went way over the top....University of Miami is truely the #1 thug school in the state of Florida....

I caught that on ESPN News. Pretty nasty. That may well seal Coker's fate.

yeah, he has lost control of this team....I do think he is a solid coach though, i don't know what it is about Miami, but they seem to also have problems like this, no matter the coach

Yeah. Miami is becoming the Va Tech of Florida.

Funny...ask the people down here in FL about him being a solid coach. He has not won much with his own players. I think his fate was sealed before this incident, but this will probably not help his cause.

well, I happen to be from Florida, and I know what the people in Florida are saying...the thing about college football is that being a sold coach isn't enough, you have to be a recruiter...with all the schools in Florida it becomes that much tougher....and I do think the fact there are 2 up and coming I-A schools in the state now (UCF and USF) it has made it tougher on the big 3 (FSU, Florida and UMiami) to find solid recruits.....I still think he is a solid coach....maybe not the best recruiter in the world....

anyone who thinks larry coker is a solid coach doesn't know much about football. the only thing he would be solid at is being a grandpa but he probably wouldn't be capable of putting enough candy in his pocket.....much like the lack of talent he is responsible for.

Did anyone see the clip of the brawl w/ the live CSS announcers as they were calling the game when it happened? Former Cane Lamar Thomas is the color commentator and will likely be looking for a job after the comments he made..here's the clip:
He starts talking at the 1:49 mark and then again around the 3:00 mark and also right near the end...

Postman, you may have to re-consult with your sources. That, and you seem to be contridicting youself. You say Coker is a solid coach, but not the best recruiter. Miami has had somewhere in the range of 35 player drafted over the last 4 years. Find another school that has that many drafted over the same time period. So, obviously, he can bring the players in, he just can't get them to win. That appears to be a coaching issue. I think if you were as tied in to what the locals are saying, you must be hearing from a very small portion of the people. How many planes were there flying over the stadium at the Houston game? How many empty seats were there at the UNC game?
Coker was given the opportunity to save his job last year by firing most of his support staff. He did that, still can't win, and has nobody to blame but himself. I am willing to bet he has his resume updated.

nick,
the last two years have been coker's classes only...total of three first rounders. the other 15 since coker took over belonged to butch davis. by far one of the five worst coaches in division 1 SPORTS...not just football

Thomas is truly CLASSLESS. Advocating more violence off the field. Undoubtedly has the education level of my socks.
As is the entire Miami team for celebrating their little riot

i'm not contradicting myself...all those players drafter weren't his recruting classes...I am not a Miami fan at all...FSU actually...and Bobby Bowden's recruiting hasn't been that great....and I do believe this has some to do with USF and UCF

I would say FSU recruiting has been good the last couple of years on the defensive side, especially since Kevin Steele arrived. Now on the offensive side of the ball, with Jeff Bowden as OC, why would a recruit want to play at FSU when we are not putting as many offensive players into the NFL because of our offensive play and play calling. I can see a recruit(defensive player) coming to FSU but not an offensive player at this time as more of our defensive players are picked for the NFL. Why is Jeff Bowden still the OC? You have to ask the HC, his dad.

im sure that idiot thomas will be fired...if not miami will show it's true colors. i thought this school had turned the corner on the thugness, but obviously not.

miami never will turn the corner from the thugness...south florida is just so full of thugs that its going to be near impossible to keep all of that out of the entire football program

wow i just viewed that video and it makes UM look so bad...why the heck are they celebrating after that...and the color comentator says it all about the thugness that is UM football.....rediculous...when i saw the team celebrating on the hightlights on ESPN I thought it was creative editing to make it look as if the team was celebrating after the big fight....but it wasn't editing....this whole team should be ashamed of themselves...as should FIU....2 south florida schools full of thugs...by chance?? I think not

and if some guys are tossed, schools will line-up to get them--even I-AA schools that are looking to make names for themselves.

Ax(e) is one of those fun words with multiple spellings like 'travel(l)ing' and 'labo(u)r'.
