Watched him a few times in the LBC/LC rivalry days. He was a great player who seemed to play a lot bigger than his 6'7" height. Sad to see him gone so young.

That great Blazers team of the 80's-90's had a couple of other non big name college guys on the roster

They were fun to watch back in the day-just we're unlucky with the other great teams in the league during the same time. Looking up that information with the smaller schools, I noticed that Kevin Duckworth passed away as well a few years back.

I was at Longwood for his bobble head day and I still have it on my desk. My daughter thought his name sounded cool and she liked to say it and giggle when she was 2. That was about 2 years ago. He seemed like one of the nicest guys you ever want to meet.

He died of a blood clot from what I hear. Now Chris Bosh of the Miami Heat may be shut down the rest of the season because of clots in his lungs.

In 2009 I was moments away from dying from this! I had 4 major clots in my right leg. I had several more in my lungs. I was having trouble breathing for weeks but like a stubborn man I was diagnosing myself. I figured it was asthma. One day my leg started hurting so badly that I was nearly in tears. Thank God my co-worker insisted I go to the hospital. It saved my life.

I got off the blood thinners for 28 days and the clots came back. I will be on thinners for life as a result. This is nothing to play around with. Rapper Heavy D died from this after taking a long plane ride. David Bloom the NBC War correspondent was in a tank for several hours and he died from one.

I think it was a Brooklyn Nets player who was rushed to the hospital in the middle of a game earlier this season and it was discovered he had blood clots too.

Yeah and Serena Williams had one last year and had to take a few months off. I was hoping I would have just been on for a few months but I am a lifer. Fortunately for me I was no longer really playing competitive sports other than a little softball. I was forced to retire but it didn't bother me that much. I hope Bosh is going to be ok. He is extremely lucky. Kersey was not so lucky.

That last point is concerning. I earned status on Delta in 3 months, plus also flew American and Southwest as well.

Anyway, thoughts and prayers are with his friends, family and the Longwood community at this time.

Yeah I have been flying a lot lately so it is always a concern. I make sure I take my meds and get the blood flowing when I am sitting in one place by moving my foot around in circles. Surgery is also a risk because you have to get off the meds for a couple of weeks around the surgery so that's scary when you are on it. Then you have to take anti-coagulants that stop your blood from clotting. Usually a needle in the stomach. Yes I have done it over 5 dozen times over the years. I get used to it after a while but the 1st few you always flinch a little.
