Coastal Goes 10-0 Against Weak Schedule

Having nothing better to do, I decided to compare schedules between Liberty and Coastal. Excluding the cupcake Brevard, LU's opponents are, so far, 63-40. Eliminate Coastal, and that makes 53-40. Coastal's opponents are 51-59. Eliminate Liberty, and that makes 45-56.

Factor in that Liberty played two FBS teams (and beat one), and Coastal's undefeated season looks a little weaker. Going 10-0 is tough to do, and I don't want to take anything away from those athletes down there. But against that weak of a schedule, it becomes a little less impressive. I honestly think LU could go 10-0 against that schedule :koolaid

NOW I need to compare common opponents' scores, and see who has the stronger team ;-)

And they may be ranked #1 next week based on the outcome of the NDSU game. Laughable, but it would be good to beat #1 team at home. We will definitely be their toughest opponent of the year.

We are still liberty. That gives me plenty of reason to doubt.

Agreed, we are still Liberty, but I am just beginning to think that Coach Gill could be the coach that can help us overcome the wtf moments.
Regardless of the veracity of the above, CCU is not as good as they were last year. I believe this is easily concluded by looking at their scores against a very weak schedule and watching a couple of their games on TV. We can definitely win this game, BUT first we have to take care of bidness against CSU. We are clearly better than CSU, but we can't be looking beyond them or we will stumble. I am hoping that yesterday was our wtf game, and we just happened to win that one.

From what I know about last season this is a game we would have lost last year. We got our WTF game out of the way, only difference is we actually won it.

I know I am very very cynical at this point. I have started to believe many, many times only to come to regret getting excited. I know we can beat coastal and believe we have the better team but we are liberty so I just can't get past thinking we will find a way to screw this up and somehow not make the playoffs

And by "WTF" you, of course, mean: "Why The Flames," right?

Never even considered another possibility my friend. If I was pushed, I would go with "what the frick" from Todd, my favorite miner on Gold Rush. But it is important to keep it clean here................... seriously.

We act like we wouldn't want to be in their position.

I'd love to be in their position. In fact, I would admit that if we WERE in their position, FlameFans would probably sound a lot like Coastalfans right now. And they would constantly be complaining about OUR weak schedule. In the grand scheme of things, this thread is just us doing our job ;)

BTW -- their OOC schedule as a whole has a losing record -- 24-39. Without Brevard, ours is 32-23.

(And without Brevard is a good thing for us, because they haven't won at all this year. :doh)

To be honest, if we were in their position, the board servers would have crashed irreparably weeks ago because of the massive influx of traffic

The :flamingdevil flows. Although our official position is trending positive and we are still high on TG

If we had their schedule, we would not be 10-0

We're Liberty...we'd figure out a way to lose to someone we should beat.

I'm thinking about something that coach Gill said, about championship teams having to win tough games. Has Coastal had a tough game this year? Not being sarcastic - I'm just thinking that they haven't, and nobody is sure how they will respond to a team that doesn't roll over for them.

That might happen next week, if they treat Monmouth the way we did. It WILL happen the following week, when Liberty comes to town.
