Apparently Liberty was a potential landing spot for the former JMU QB but Coach Whithers is blocking him.

Michael Birdsong, the 2013 starting QB at JMU recently asked for a release from new Coach Everett Withers. Mr. Birdsong thought he had an agreement from an honorable man, after all they mutually agreed JMU would only block transferring to Colonial Athletic Association schools. Michael Birdsong said Thursday Coach Withers has had a change of heart and is now blocking his transfer to Appalachian State, Charlotte, Liberty and Old Dominion. Birdsong says he is appealing.

Birdsong says he is appealing to JMU to be released to the additional schools Withers is blocking.

Its not like they are on our schedule in the next couple seasons so why the heck would he block him from looking to transfer here

He is a pretty good QB too, real strong arm and a big guy. He will be an asset to anyone if he gets a transfer.

heard there is another QB interested in Liberty from Clemson.

If its who I think it is didnt he just get jettisoned for conduct detrimental?

Yeah but if he does come to LU and gets his emotions under control, could you imagine what a guy who would have started for Clemson could do to a Big South or Sun Belt defense? I think it would look something like this:

Now now shorty...postie wasnt perverted in his statement...off base yes...but not perverted. I dont know if he would be a good fit even if he wasn't blocked from coming here. We don't know the circumstances behind his dismissal...we don't know how Coach Swinney's team rules work...and we don't know the guy's personal beliefs. not to mention we don't know how he would fit within our offense as far as on the field is concerned...

Im still trying to wrap my head around it...we arent on the Dukes' schedule this year and likely next year either...and why the heck is he against App, UNCC and ODU? It makes zero sense to me as I dont think any of them are on the horizon forthe next couple seasons either

It sorta sounds like a publicity stunt by Birdsong. Has the coach or anyone else actually confirmed this??
