CONWAY — After more than four years running the Coastal Carolina University athletic department, Hunter Yurachek has decided the time is right to take the next step in his career and revealed Thursday that he has accepted a position at the University of Houston.

Yurachek will remain Coastal’s director of athletics through the middle of March before becoming Houston’s associate vice president and chief operating officer for intercollegiate athletics, working under vice president for intercollegiate athletics Mack Rhoades.

So the bogus rumor of costal Carolina trying to move to the sunbelt would appear even more unlikely now with the AD leaving .....

Never really a rumor as much as one writer's speculation.

Matt Hogue was named interim AD at Coastal today.

If that means we don't have to listen to him on the TV any more, I am all for it.

Homer commentators seem to never want to give up being behind the mic he'll probably try to do both, until they replace him or he just cant be AD anymore.

Didn't mean to be a dick about it. That's just a common thing I've heard all day. People outside of Coastal, especially those who don't like Hogue because he calls games CCU's way, have said it's just a radio guy getting the job. What they don't know is how much Matt Hogue has done at Coastal. Him getting the interim job would be the equivalent of us giving an interim title to Kevin if Jeff left.

Sweet, it still works.

This was the best decision CCU could have made. Matt is phenomenal at what he does. Not only is he "The Voice", but he is also the Assoc. VP for Marketing and Media. He also held positions of: Assoc, Director of the Athletics Department, and took the lead in helping CCU with NCAA Championship hosting.

They couldn't have hired a better guy for the job.

I believe this is critically important in establishing an athletic roadmap that will take us well into the future. Undoubtedly, Joe’s experience and knowledge in these areas will be an invaluable asset.

If he creates a matching fund, I think the support will be near unanimous.
