The stadium will seat 4000 which believe it or not would be a massive improvement for our new Big South rival. The school apparently has major zoning issues that keep them from building bigger.

A 2014 stadium advertising "restrooms" reminds me of the old Jumbo's Restaurant in Lynchburg that used to advertise "Air Conditioning." I guess some things we just take for granted. Did their old stadium have porta-johns?

WEST LONG BRANCH — When Kevin Callahan was hired as Monmouth University’s first head football coach in 1992, he didn’t have much to sell to recruits outside of his own vision for where he wanted to take the startup program.

Monmouth Stadium and Kessler Field had not even been built when Callahan accepted the position, but were ready for his program’s first contest — a 12-0 shutout at the hands of Sacred Heart on Sept. 25, 1993.

Marilyn McNeilMonmouth’s original plan for the Kessler Field renovation called for construction to start at the end of the 2014 season, a six-month construction phase and eye on having it ready for the 2015 opener.

On Friday, Monmouth athletic director Marilyn McNeil remained confident that the plan will come to fruition, but also acknowledged that the next few months will be crucial if they are to stay on schedule.
