Smart move, get it done now before Texas money gets thrown at him.

I'm confident that Texas money is already being thrown at him. Let's see what happens.

The Michigan State incident was followed by the LSU incident ... he has a very clear pattern. And staying at Alabama would break that pattern.

Frankly the idea of having Saban in Austin would disgust me. He stands for everything that is wrong with college football. But I believe Steve Patterson is trying to bring more of a pro sports mindset to Austin. And when it comes to "pro" football in the college ranks, Saban knows how to operate better than anyone else.

He is unlikable and is going to shaft Texas so of course Sly is going to think he stands for everything wrong with college football.

I don't like him, but may end up disliking him less if he does indeed give Texas the shaft

I've spoken with some of his former assistants and players from LSU. Forgive me if I have a hard time believing that he has cleaned up his act.

Regardless, Texas needs to poop or get off the pot. At this rate they will probably hire Lane Kiffin!

Saban isn't a saint but that is what makes sly's remarks so comical.

Supposedly the offer from bama is up to $7 mil. Getting nervous?

Stefan Stevenson: "Source close to Texas executive council of regents says Nick Saban will be the next Longhorns coach."

Will they tear down the statue of Saban if he moves to Austin? Then make a huge offer to Gene?

I heard he's had a contract on his desk since last Friday. Honestly, Texas makes a lot of sense for Saban. I just can't wait for the Bama fans to start shouting, "We didn't need him anyway!"

Legitimate honest question. What does Texas offer Saban that Alabama doesn't? The money is not that much different (Saban says it's not about money). Facilities can't be that different. Prestige? History? Exposure? Potential? The ONLY thing I see is a less difficult conference than the SEC but not necessarily at the top.
I'm sure Sly and Bama can fill me in on the details, but it doesn't make sense for him to move

In Austin, you can go to the grocery store after a loss without having to get yelled at by crazy fans. People don't drop "things" on your front lawn in Austin. Austin has a population of around 1 million, Tuscaloosa is around 90k. Translation: you can hide and live a life outside of football in Austin.

I don't buy it. Texas fans are no less passionate than Bama fans. 90k v 1m just means more people to crap on your yard!

The Longhorn network? Just a guess. It may not make a huge difference to a coach, but I would think it may for athletes, and help with recruitment. And that would make a difference to a coach. On the other hand, it doesn't seem that Alabama is struggling with recruitment...

I think it may be as simple as Texas would offer him a new challenge. Another notch in his legacy belt.

What for the 8 people who get the Longhorn Network? ESPN will be launching the SEC Network and, since it's ESPN, you know they'll be slobbering all over Alabama until they can't even stomach it anymore.

The Longhorn Network is an ESPN production.

I'm admittedly biased but comparing Austin & Tuscaloosa is very unfair to our Tide fans on here. Night & day.

Saban is too busy recruiting and coaching to worry about the extra curricular activities in T-town.

Dreamland is not bad but nowhere near up to Central Texas 'cue standards. I usually stop there on road trips to Virginia about once a year. I haven't tried Full Moon.

I heard something similar to that as well.

Additionally, I think Saban has accomplished all that he can at Alabama. What else is he going to do? Win more championships? And then what? He could win back to back championships again, and then one loos to Auburn will have fans PO'ed. In Texas, the fans don't take the rivalries as seriously. (That isn't a slight to the Texas/OU rivalry, but have you seen the Bama/AU rivalry? Death threats to a kicker??)

Texas has passionate fans but I've never heard of Texas fans poisoning trees, threatening kickers or fans throwing "pee sponges" on opposing fans (LSU). My point being, and I could be dead wrong about this, but I sense a little more relaxation in Austin than what's in Tuscaloosa. Don't get me wrong, UT is serious about winning and will put the pressure on. But the fans aren't going to crap on your lawn over one loss to an in-state rival either.
