The build-up for this Saturday's showdown in Conway is actually rather entertaining. Be sure to check out both boards this week.

I don't really see this as a big game. GW's loss this week to Charlotte is a better determination of where they really are IMHO. It may also give them something to prove in Conway i guess. I'm still not buying GW yet at all, CCU is probably a top 20 team, but top 10? No way.

CCU really hasnt had a "signature win" this year (we havent either but that isnt my point). EKU is below average, so is Furman, SC State has been on the downside of things since their last playoff appearance and Hampton and Elon are both dumpster fires. G-W has the only real "signature win" over Wofford but they lost to a startup program in Charlotte last week (I think that would classify as a "WTF game" on their part). CSU is 6-0, but their wins are over 2 D2 squads, Campbell, a pair of SoCon teams that are seriously underachieving and a below average Norfolk State team, and now they have no bye week and will be playing the likely top 3 teams in the conference in consecutive weeks to close the season.

It is hard to fathom that we are talking at-large possibilities for CCU, G-W & Chuck South. Hopefully we sew up the auto bid for once.

What do we want to happen with this game today? CCU to win big and come to LU over-confident. GW to win and CCU come here with a real chip on their shoulder, knowing another loss will keep them out of the playoffs? Something else? I still think GW is way overrated and won't factor into an at-large bid. Most likely. we will not either, unless we win the rest of our games and get the autobid.

Matt Hogue is the biggest homer besides Vin Scully and Woody Durham, I have ever heard. Hard to listen to for sure.

Isn't he the Coastal guy? What do you expect? I love that in a teams broadcast crew!

Not much on homers, especially when he doesn't sound like he has ever seen a football game before. I have heard him when he did a lot better, maybe just an off night.
Third quarter 28-7 Coastal, 3 GW turn-overs, looks like it is really going to get ugly. GW looking very tired. CCU putting a lot of pressure on the QB with their front 4.

Impressions of Coastal? I caught a little of the end of the first half; just enough to see that they have some solid receivers.

CCU is a very opportunistic team...we cannot give them extra possessions via turnovers next week, and we certainly cannot have empty possessions either.

They seem to be a pretty good team. They are WAY overrated at 6 or 9, or wherever they are (they will be higher this coming week because of a Towson loss) . I would say they are probably about 20. They scored their first two TD's on turnovers, (fumble on the 5 yd line and a pick six). GW, is really not a very good team. Have no idea how they beat Richmond. If they played 10 more times, Richmond would win at least 9 of them.
Coastal brought a lot of pressure with some blitzes and later on in the game with just their front 4. Coastal's QB is somewhat like ODU's, in that he can scramble and is a running threat, but not nearly as good. We will have to contain rush him and we will be ok.
Should be a good game next week. If we play defense like we did against KS and ODU, we will win. I believe the crowd can make a big difference for us. I hope everyone comes prepared to make a lot of noise.

ugly game.
I watched the 3rd and 4th.
both teams looked like dreck... CCU more so b/c they had no real competition and seemed bored.
GW's QB missed wide open receivers multiple times. last time in the end zone - no one within 15 yds of him
every other snap looked like it was nearly on the ground. very odd this far into the season.
and CCU has a nice place; small but well done. Problem is it looks like no more than 4 or 5k showed up and most left before the 4th
we take the 'Bill and our students for granted, for sure.
