Does Mack Brown last the season? Is his "retirement" announced before November? What say you?

They'll give him until the end of the season, he deserves that at least for what he did there.

I don't think he'll be let go before the seasons end, but I think there is a good chance his "retirement" is announced. In other words, he'll be fired before the end of the season, but it won't be effective immediately.

That's what I can see happening, the man has been in the coaching ranks since the 70's and won Texas a national title, that alone should allow him to "retire" with some dignity.

Why let him go until the replacement finishes his season in Tuscaloosa?

I understand that Texas could throw Fort Knox at Sabin, but why leave Bama, the man has it made in the shade there and the second teams start sniffing he'll get a massive payday there. If I were a betting man I'd say Texas go after Jimbo Fisher or Dabo Swinney, either would be a great pick up for the Longhorns.

Why would Saban leave the SEC for the B12? And the two ACC coaches I cannot see them stepping down from the ACC to the B12. The ACC this year is a better conference after beating UGA and UF.

I would say Chad Morris the OC at Clemson to be the prime candidate for Texas HC job.

Urban Meyer may want to get out ahead if recruiting and other violations
Chris Petersen from Boise would be a great fit!

In your dreams. :football

Apparently, you can add Mack Brown to the list of his detractors.

Jimbo Fisher is not going to Texas.

Texas is a huge job and they could just about get anyone but Saban would be on the short list of candidates not available.

Texas is a good gig, but I sometimes think its a bit overplayed. I am sure Sly will swoop in and explain to me why I am wrong though.

It would take a massive amount of stupid or an ARod level contract for Saban to find that move logical.

Dude, they could offer him the equivalent of the entire combined operating budget of the entire University of Texas system and he still wouldn't take the job

Wow .. interesting but often uninformed opinions aplenty in this thread.

As for Saban, look at his career path and explain to me how he is NOT looking for his next move.

Personally, I hate to see UT sell its soul to the devil by bringing him in. And the Longhorns would have zero interest in Jimbo Fisher. Please.

It is interesting that someone brought up Chad Morris. He has zero chance of being Mack's replacement. But he would be a likely OC for whoever comes in next unless that HC is moving from Boise. Chad certainly knows his way around Austin.

Thank you for adding to the list of uninformed opinions! :D

Saban has stayed longer at BAMA than anyplace else. He made a mistake leaving LSU and going to the NFL. He won't make that mistake again. No one can offer Saban MORE than BAMA. (UT could match).

Saban is the best coach in the country. He isn't the devil, he's a class act (as is Mack Brown). Do I detect a little green in your sly eyes?
Sly Fox wrote:

Their loss. Jimbo is doing a great job at FSU.

Just out of curiosity, why not Jimbo? The man has put FSU back on the map and is a recruiting mastermind.

He hates the ACC. UT would be thrilled to get Jimbo Fisher.

Bama fans are kidding themselves if they think Saban is there for life. His goal is to beat bear Bryant's record and then he will move to the next challenge. Unless he gives up first like he did in the NFL

I don't know if Saban will coach another school after BAMA or not. I don't think he will, but I could see him going to one school… and it ain't UT or any other "power house" program.

Which one?
thepostman wrote: Unless he gives up first like he did in the NFL
Not a chance. NFL coaches don't have the same sort of control over the "process."
