Anybody else following this NL Central race? I have to as part of my job and its unbelievable right now. The Astros have made up seven games on the Crdinals in one week and the lead is down to just a game and a half right now. This is potentially either the biggest comeback or choke (depending on your viewpoint) in baseball history. This brings the Miracle Mets to mind. And the way the Cards are playing right now, even if they survive this last week they are going to get crushed in the NLDS.

The Astros won their 9th straight and the Cards losing big tonight. So the lead is about to be down to just a half game. The city of St. Louis is in disbelief.

Come on guys, this is an unbelievable thing to watch!

you are right, its crazy...i have kind of distanced myself from baseball since the Red Sox completely crumbled under preasure this season, but just last night I was watching sports center and saw this and just cound't believe it, St Louis isn't a team that normally falls apart in the regular season

i'm a big fan of the rocket going out one last time and as a cub fan i'd have no problem in the cards missed out...

Cubs & Red Sox fans are everywhere. Everyone wants to be uber-cool by playing the longsuffering role.

wrong i'm actually shopping around for another team...i'm thinking about jumping on the tiger bandwagon....i'm a redwing fan and my wife's family is from the area so i have an in....

i can't possibly like the red or white sox....too many red sox fans, and even though i love ozzie guillen and jim thome is on the short list of players i actually respect, southsiders are dopes...

i wsa thinking of jumpin onto a turd team but thats what i'm already dealling with AND i get to watch 30% of their games....

though if wood and baker are gone then i'm good...

i would say "they'll do it someday in my lifetime" but were people saying that back in 1930 and they are dead now....

I can't believe I didn't put a few bucks down on the stros when they were 150-1 odds to win the central.

yeah what also sucks for me is i lived in seattle for 9 years and thats where i mainly grew up, so my other lost cause is the mariners, even though just like 5 years ago they won like 116 games, now they finish like 30 back every year. although i had a dream that they were able to talk griffey, a-rod, and johnson into coming back one year, and they won the series. I also am a huuuge seahawk fan and am still ticked they had the superbowl stolen from them last year, but so far they are lookin good again this year

I am originally from the Chicago area (Gary, IN), and I was cursed by being born into a Cubs-loving family. I had actually given thought to trying to pull for another team just to see if that would help the Cubs win. Maybe they should just fire Dusty and Lary Rothschild...or however you spell his name... and I could keep pulling for my team.

On a side note, my wife is in grad school getting her masters in counseling and she has a really long and drawn out theory about why I like the Cubs. Something about liking pain and disapointment. I dunno.

yeah, theres no doubt in my mind dusty wont have a job soon. earlier this summer the GM said he was going to stick with him through the year, so i think they were basically going to fire him then but wanted to give him 3 more months

yeah dusty should be gone.....because over the past 3 years we've got an almost completely different lineup yet they still make all the same stupid baserunning mistakes.....

meanwhile, nomaaahhh is clutch and corey patterson is putting up fantastic 8-hole #'s

dusty is a moron and hendry is close to losing his job as well....but dusty better be gone....

the cubs president and CEO resigned today....so thats good news...mcphail was a moron too....

It was fun while it lasted. But I admit I'm glad the 'Stros didn't amke the playoffs. That would've just meant a bunch more work for me. And I'm already overloaded in football season.
