Mike and Mike are reporting (twice now) that TO's "allergic reaction" last night to pain medication was actually a suicide attempt. I don't care if you like the man or not, this is serious.

Here is the story from the Dallas fishwrap:
Report: T.O. attempted suicide
08:41 AM CDT on Wednesday, September 27, 2006
By TODD ARCHER / The Dallas Morning News
Dallas Cowboys star receiver Terrell Owens attempted suicide Tuesday night by swallowing prescription pain medication, according to a source who spoke to WFAA-TV.
A Dallas police report, which does not name Owens, says the victim acknowledged to police that he had taken the pills and was trying to harm himself, WFAA-TV reported Wednesday. The source identified the unnamed victim as Owens.
Owens was treated at Baylor University Medical Center for an undisclosed reason.
According to KTVT-TV, doctors were attempting to induce vomiting.
Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said late Tuesday he was unaware of Owens’ trip to the hospital, and Owens’ agent, Drew Rosenhaus, and publicist, Kim Etheridge, could not be reached for comment.
Last week, according to Cowboys coach Bill Parcells, Owens had a reaction to the pain medicine he was given following surgery in which a plate was inserted into his right hand to stabilize a fractured fourth metacarpal. Parcells said Owens became ill and could not work out, but he was improved the next day.
On Tuesday, Owens did not speak with the media, but he appeared to be in good spirits.
He continued conditioning work on the side with associate trainer Britt Brown and caught passes. He was wearing gloves and had his ring and middle fingers on his right hand taped together.
Earlier Tuesday, Parcells said Owens would practice some today and he had not ruled Owens out from playing Sunday at Tennessee. Owens was wearing a bone growth simulator Tuesday to help the healing process. According to Parcells, the swelling in Owens’ hand had gone down, and the biggest challenge for Owens would be handling the pain of catching passes.
“I have to see him out there being a confident player,” Parcells said. “I don’t want him out there thinking about something. If it’s going act as a deterrent, I don’t want that because that would eventually hurt us. But if he can get to the point where it looks like he can function and he feels pretty good about it (then Parcells would play him).
“I’m talking to him every day, seeing how he’s doing. We’re moving forward. We have a lot of time between now and the game.”

Wow! Hopefully he will get all the help he needs. As stated above, it is a must that the media gets off his back. I cant imagine how hard it would be for someone under the public's eye as much as he is.

An Ozzie reset in the midst of this thread. You can tell your a Chicagoan.
This story appears to have so many layers its ridiculous. This upcoming news conference is going to be interesting.

At the Press Conference he appeared to be fine, said that he did NOT attempt suicide and yes he was unresponsive and may have had 2 or 3 extra pills mixed in with the rest of his suppliments he was taking but that the 35 pills he was supposed to have taken in a suicide attempt are in a drawer.
Regardless of if it's true or not he looked healthy and was very responsive during the interview. Honestly based on past interviews I've seen from him, he came off very humble and ready to get back to work.
As for the attention comment, I think that's a little much. No.. a lot much.

yeah the attention thing is out of line....i mean he does like the spot light but you must have a little sensitivity when its something as serious as suicide. I have had a friend that attempted to kill herself, part of it had to do with attention, very true...but it also comes from being very messed up in the head with a lot of different things...
From the looks of the story now some information got confused...if the man really downed 35 pills he would not have looked and sounded as good as he did at the press conference....

I think the rumor mill is spinning out of control on this one. Considering the "quality" of the pain meds that guys get at the NFL level, if you take 35 of anything than you are not getting back up!

A law firm I know of in Philly had a copy of the police report by about 11 am. The investigating officer apparently listed suicide attempt on his report based upon T.O.'s response at the scene. If T.O. were to pursue a malpractice suit based upon the Rx, what T.O. said at the scene would be given more credibility being termed an excited utterance, than what he said several hours later. All we know for sure is T.O. has many issues

actually he has a terrible publicist, did you see her at the press conference?? terrible....
serisouly though dude its common sense, if he downed 35 of the pills that were said to be downed initially, he would not have been sitting there yesterday so clear minded, you are an idiot if you think that....either that or your hatred for TO has blinded you to the facts...
ps I can't stand TO either, but the truth is the truth, deal with it dude

i dont' think he took 35 pills but i think the guy has issues and i am fairly certain he was trying to harm himself.....anyone can put a spin on it...you had to figure they would....
i love TO i think he is a phenominal wideout...hes just full of himself and begs to be in the limelight....

whatever the case, the police report can not be trusted because it did state that he downed a whole bottle of pills, so its really hard to get a whole story on this one...he does have issues we all know that, but that press conference that was held yesterday was not your normal TO, he seemed to be very truthful....other times he just seems to be trying to make himself look better
believe what you want, you still lose a lot of points by just how disrespectful you were about the whole suicide thing when the story first broke....and to be honest no matter what you say i am going to disagree, like it or not, because suicide is not something to joke around about....you must not have ever had to deal with it or you would have known to keep your mouth shut about it
i am never one to take much of anything seriously, but this one thing that needs to be, like the person or not

i am never one to take much of anything seriously, but this one thing that needs to be, like the person or not
actually have dealt with it numerous times...
people that attemp to commit suicide but fail aren't really trying to kill themselves, they just want attention....people that want ot commit suicide succeed and truly get what they wanted....
ex-best friend allen offed himself...his mother...his mother found him inthe garage, hung wiht an extension cord...
and i've had plenty of friends "attempt" suicide....
if you are that selfish and have no care for your family and loved ones then be gone with you...
i could probably care less what you agree or disagree because i have no idea who you are and would probably never want to find out....go preach to someone else...

you're right, a lot of times it just a cry for help, but the fact you were completely insensitive to this because he is TO the cocky football player makes it appear you have no idea how serious these things are, regardless of the stories you have to tell....
i wasn't preaching, this has nothing to do with God or anything else. I don't know if you're a Christian or not, so therefore I am not going to go on and on about how Jesus would deal with this situation because its my opinion that a message board isn't the place to debate what Jesus would do because it makes Christians look like idiots....so I wasn't preaching
joking or not, i don't care...there are very few things i don't joke around about, but this is one of them, if this truely hits so close to home i don't understand how you could joke about it....
anyways, sorry if it upsets you so much that i have such a strong opinion about this, but i am not going to just sit here and say nothing
ok, i guess its time to take my preaching elsewhere....man that line made me laugh....
