Welcome to the Big South, Jacksonville U... in 2015! :P

I truly think they could be the Big South in the foreseeable future. When the Big South expanded with Stony Brook, some of the names that were mentioned for football-only membership were Albany and JU. IIRC, Albany weren't in the position to expand its football scholarships at that time and JU were non-scholarship and they did not have a true stadium.

With a newly-renovated stadium, JU could be an intriguing prospect due to its location and the fact that the state of Florida always have a ton of football prospects. And if Liberty is going to be "stuck" the Big South, we might as well look forward to making our home more comfortable.

Yes, Jacksonville had the worst field in FCS prior to this upgrade. Calling it a stadium would have been a misnomer. This is evidence that the school is positioning itself to add scholarships for football. What Kerwin Bell has accomplished without scholies or a legitimate stadium is very impressive ... nearly Harbaugh at San Diego impressive.

The moment they make the move to start offering scholarships, they are immediately in the Big South. Then again, the same could be said for their crosstown public school UNF. Both are attractive schools on the verge of stepping up in the athletics world in a fashion that we have seen from FGCU the past couple of years.

The Southern Conference is now an unlikely choice for Kennesaw State, having just welcomed Atlantic Sun members East Tennessee State and Mercer and former Southern Conference member VMI. Williams said the Owls may not be a good fit with the private school sector of the conference.

However, the Big South, Ohio Valley and Colonial Athletic Association are still potential options.
