As a Celtics fan, I really like this hiring.

To say this came out of left field is an understatement. Can't believe NOTHING leaked out in this age of rumor mongering all over social media and message boards.

Biggest surprise I've seen in a while. Definitely not the typical hire for a team that is tanking/rebuilding. Doesn't seem to be a hired to be fired type either.

I don't know which is bigger news: Brad Stevens to the Celtics or Nick Pierce to the Panthers.
Both made the WSET news tonight! Congrats to Nick on being hired as their P.A. announcer.

Ainge signed him to a six-year contract, so it appears they expect to give him plenty of time to help rebuild the team. Hire seems to be getting almost exclusively a thumbs up on the internet as well. Will be interesting to see how he handles it, especially with Rondo who is supposed to be difficult to coach.

I love Stevens' style, but Im not sure how it will translate to the pro's. Generally speaking, college is a coaches' league while the NBA is a players' league. I'm just not sure if Stevens' style translates to the pro game.
That said, if it fails, he'll still have his pick of college jobs. I think it's a good move for him. Time will tell if its a good move for Boston.

I'm thinking this is Stevens' Rick Pitino move. Go to the pros for a couple of years at a much higher salary and if it doesn't work out go back to college where he'll still be a top name.

It moves him to New England, so when it doesn't work out, he'll be close by to save UConn's program. This is me typing in my sleep.
