Formerly a paid subscription, the Big South Conf is announcing the online Big South Network video streaming will be free starting in July.

I'm glad they came to their senses that no one should have to pay for that horrendous quality of a feed.

Yeah I noticed that little tidbit in the Big South article too. I think it is a good move by the conference. They are going to get far more exposure by not charging. Also it sounds like they are looking to improve the video streaming quality for the games not being broadcast on TV.

It's not that bad. I watched Longwood away games on the several networks and it was far better quality than the MAAC, OVC, and some others.

Will also make getting sponsors and advertisers easier when they can say they have what I am guessing will be a heck of a lot more viewers, on average. If done right, they could very likely make more money in the end.

Wow, is that really our standard of excellence? Then you will love hanging with Kyle for years to come.

It's Longwood. They're just content to be streamed on the Internet

If you can even stand the picture.

Sad but true, haha...

Thanks for the semantics game Sly... I don't remember referring to it by excellent. We always talking about how the Big South is near the bottom of the barrel in regards to nearly everything, but I don't think the quality of their streaming product (for basketball) can be added to the punchlines.

The quality is just as good or better than most comparable conferences. It does seem to vary from school to school though on the quality a bit. Asheville, Radford, and Coastal were pretty terrible this year in my opinion. Longwood was lucky enough to grab a guy with 20+ years of experience at Syracuse, so I felt the product we put out was pretty solid.

The Big South has a school (ONE! BY ITSELF!) that is capable of putting out a better product than the entire conference. That says all I need to say about the quality of the Big South live stream.
