Saw this earlier today. It does bring up an interesting point and it wouldn't surprise me either way if there was a conspiracy or not. I would most definitely believe it if Ed Rush was still director of officials.

The NBA is a joke. I have not watched a game in close to 20 years. I wish ESPN would stop acting as if the NBA was the world's #1 sport. If they played NBA finals at the Vines Center I would not attend.

David stern is a joke. This is true.

The nba is only a joke to a certain kind of basketball fan. As a whole it's a very entertaining product but if you have no connection to it or refuse to give it a chance for 20 years then of course you won't like it.

when people say, "i haven't watched in XX years, its a joke" you can kind of brush them aside because its essentially the equivalent of saying "i didn't see that movie because it sucks".

they weep of selfish players who play no defense. flopping, no parity, and conspiracy rule the day. but they haven't watched...which is obvious.

college basketball is great. don't get me wrong...the atmosphere surrounding the dance is like no other. but everything else outside the atmosphere....amateurish.

The quality of the NBA is worlds ahead of the college game. You can put all the elite defenders all on one team and they still aren't going to force a team to struggle to score a point a minute like we have seen so many times this year in the college game.

And what type of basketball fan is that? I'm a former coach, and ref, who watches the NBA but doesn't believe for a second that it's on the up and up. There are multiple instances over the years that show the officiating in the league is not equal for all teams/players and it's very clear there are storylines that are pushed ahead of competition at times. Let's not even get into the very obviously rigged lottery that just happens to be part of a clear story many seasons. I continue to watch because they are clearly the best players in the world and there are some extraordinarily talented teams, but that doesn't absolve the league of the WWE comments because it's definitely not playing things straight.

I never said it was on the up and up. There are issues in every professional sports league. MLB probably being the worst.

The lottery isn't rigged, if it were there is no way the Orlando Magic would have 3 lottery wins under their belts...just sayin...

The people who don't like the nba are from 2 breads. They either don't like pro sports in general, or they think the NBA is too "street" or lacks fundamentals or is iso heavy or whatever crappy stereotype they heard some sports commentator say one time and have held onto it for year. The first one is fine, not everybody likes pro sports. I love pro basketball and believe it has gotten much better in the last 5-10 years then it was in the late 90s, early 2000s. Of course there are problems and things that should be changed, the same could be said about all pro leagues. As far as the ones who buy into this whole mindset that the nba lacks fundamentals, or is too 'street' for them or whatever else are either paranoid or simply ignorant to the truth.

Being a former coach and ref does not give you credibility. I have known some smart basketball minds that have done both and I have known some idiots who have done both. I don't know you so I have no idea which category you would fall in. So I am not sure what you were trying to prove by throwing that tidbit out there.

People on here actually believe there is a Laker playoff conspiracy? lol. This thread is much more entertaining to read with Benny Hill playing in the background.

50-16 FT attempts in favor of the Lakers last night. The most obvious "fixed" call was Steve Blake going to the line on a foul called on Steph Curry. The problem with the call is that there was never contact between the two players and the only actual contact on the play was Howard setting a blatant moving pick on Curry to free up Blake for the shot. Once Blake missed it, the refs called the foul on Curry. There's a very obvious, and unapologetic, attempt by the league office/officials to get the Lakers into the playoffs.

I am trying to care.............................really, I just can't bring myself to do it. And the Lakers are the only team I have ever rooted for. But that was years ago, before the league was turned over to the thugs........................................ I mean players.

The difference is some people actually watched the game and could say for fact the Warriors were jobbed, just like the Kings were in the 2002 Western Conference Finals.

Plus, look at the shot charts, and look at the offensive rebounding numbers. It's darn near impossible to only get 16 free throw attempts with 15 offensive rebounds, 17 shots within two feet of the basket, and 22 shots within five feet of the basket. The Lakers were much less of an aggressive offensive team last night, yet drew over three times as many free throw attempts.

Pointing out an obviously fraudulent foul call that directly affected the outcome, and pointing out that it was the norm instead of the exception, isn't.

Your words. Then you go on about 1 call. Big difference.
