Virginia offensive coordinator Bill Lazor is joining Chip Kelly's Philadelphia Eagles staff as quarterbacks coach.

The 40-year-old Lazor has been the Cavaliers' offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach the past three seasons.

"I appreciate Bill Lazor's time here as a member of my staff," Virginia coach Mike London said. "We are now wrapping up our recruiting and starting our preparation for the 2013 season. We will move quickly to find a new offensive coordinator to keep the program moving forward."

That sucks for them... When is national signing day? In like 8 days?... My Miami Hurricanes lost their OC to the Jaquars not too long ago. Fortunately for them they were able to find another one in a short period of time.

Truthfully speaking, I am not a big fan of NFL guys coaching in the college ranks. It's "eye candy" to a high-school recruit, however coaches that have coached in the NFL before usually take off like Flash Gordon when they have the opportunity to return... I'm sure in some cases schools probably lose recruits because of the situation since recruits do not know what system the new coordinator is going to run.

I do not have a problem with guys leaving for a better opportunity along with a bigger paycheck because they have to feed their families. I am just stating that if a school hires a coach from the NFL, the school runs the chance of losing that coach in about 1-2 years, 3 years if you're fortunate. If you can stomach the transition of going from coordinator to coordinator, then it might be worth your time. In that case, it's probably best to groom a coach to take over when the time is appropriate.

Maybe Lazor was discontent with the QB decision and started looking? :popcorn
