You beat me to it! He HAD to have been in on it. Otherwise there is another female involved. The third option would that he and T'sopo( not trying to spell that name) are more likely to attend ATrain type events and needed an 'out' before it went national.

This is absolutely bizarre for lack of a more outrageous term.

Watch Catfish and Catfish the tv show. I find both fascinating and yet can't believe people still fall into this kind of trap.

Here is the big question in my mind: How well did ND investigate. Were they truly convinced of Te’o’s innocence in the matter BEFORE they got whooped by BAMA? In retrospect, it might have been in their best interest to bench him.

I could swear the man known as Manti Te'o was a myth, I don't recall a Manti Te'o even playing in the National Championship game.

Between this story, and the guy who got caught outsourcing his job to China, this has been the best bizarre news day in quite a while.

What makes this story even more pathetic is that the fake pics of the girl weren't even from that of a hot girl. If you're going to fabricate the whole deal, do it the right way. Bring it hard or don't bring it all - smoke show or nothing! Seriously, if I were to be this pathetic, I'd find the hottest "regular" girl on Facebook and use her pictues.

This is nuts. My first reaction as a ND fan was to jump straight to the "Manti made the whole thing up" conclusion. But then ND's athletic director got up in the press conference last night and was pretty convincing that it really was a hoax, citing independent investigator's findings. Combine that with the fact that Brian Kelly decided to come back to school even though he realized this was going to surface, and I'm now trending to the "Wow, Manti has got to be the stupidest dude on the planet" conclusion.

Either way, this is bad. As I wrote somewhere else, Lance Armstrong thinks Manti Te'o looks like an idiot right now.

I'm sure he fell for a fake girl, embellished their relationship a little and then it got out of hand from there.

Oh, even if he is gullible it is tough to deny he certainly used the girl he never met as a tool for his own personal Heisman hype machine.

Reagan Mauia, who was cut by the Arizona Cardinals last October, told ESPN.com on Wednesday that he was introduced in June of that year to a woman claiming to be Kekua. The meetings took place in American Samoa where Mauia, Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu and other Polynesian teammates were doing charity work.
