In case anyone cared, the Baseball Hall of Fame announced today that zero players on the ballot received the requisite 75% of the vote for induction.

Good. Hopefully we can get back to the HOF only including great players. There should be a lot more years where nobody gets in instead of 1 every few decades.

I've waivered on this issue for several years now. At this point I'm in favor of putting players into the Hall of Fame even if they have ties to PED use. It's hard to quantify the advantage these guys got from using steroids and HGH. It's also hard to ignore the fact that amphetamine use was rampant in MLB from the 1960s until at least the mid 2000s. While I believe the steroid users gained a larger advantage than the amphetamine users, I think it's fair to say that both groups were using performance enhancing drugs to some degree.

My view is that the guys who have the numbers should get in, even if it means adjusting the baseline to accommodate the advantages they gained. There should be an educational portion of the Hall which informs future generations that specific guys played during the so called "Steroid Era." It's a shame that the Hall of Fame will not include the all-time home run king, the guy with the most Cy Young awards, the greatest hitting catcher of all time and many other great players from the era who may or may not have used performance enhancing drugs.

I believe a huge portion of the players were using. The problem is, you can't prove any of them weren't cheating. To say that one player was absolutely clean is naive. There is no way of knowing. Just because a guy isn't huge doesn't mean he didn't use. Do I believe that Ken Griffey Jr., Derek Jeter, Greg Maddux, Frank Thomas, etc. were clean? Yes. Do I know this for a fact? Absolutely not. Let them all in and link them to the era during which they played.

I agree on Rose and going ahead and voting in the cheaters. With juicing rampant in the sport, let's go ahead and be honest and admit that Bonds & Clemens not being in Cooperstown makes the whole deal a bit ridiculous. Obviously the same goes for Charlie Hustle.

And while we are on rants, can the pious voters get off their high horse about first ballot honorees and just vote in the ones that are deserving. Having Bidge wait a year because he is not first ballot worthy is stupid.

Not sure if you're serious or not, but there are plenty of cheaters already in the HOF. Ty Cobb sharpened his spikes. Gaylord Perry threw spitballs for years. Most of the players from the 60's til the mid 2000's took amphetamines. Where do you draw the line?

If everyone was taking steroids doesn't that sort o even the playing field? If all hitters were taking it the you compare them with each other. If pitchers were taking them too the you have juiced up pitchers throwing to juiced up hitters. It's not like a handful of guys did it and no one else.
And how did Rose cheat? He called his bookie at the beginning of the year and said this is how much money I want to spend and how I want it distributed and they settled up at the end of the year. He placed the bets on his team to win every game. Plus he's not going in as a manager but as a player. That makes the Baseball HOF about as legit as the RR HOF iMO. Although the RR HOF FINALLY gave the nod to Rush!
