Umm...just because anAD is stepping down doesnt mean there is some conspiracy theory behind it (whether realignment, NCAA violations or whatever)

Check out this fascinating article. It is dated ,but gives you a general idea of trends among AD's. Really odd to see the huge differences, even in the same conference. For example Florida AD making 965,000, will Mississippi State AD making only 175,000 back in 2009.

At any rate, although ECU would be a raise, we have more money than they do and a greater upside potential.

It also goes with coaches. And it's every conference.

A Barber move? I don't know about pay, but Lynchburg is certainly nicer than Greenville!

Liberty in 10 years > East Carolina in 10 years

More money. Bottom line. I wouldn't want to be one of 7 fbs public schools in the same state with the way our economy is right now...or ever.

I dont think Barber is moving either...not to mention, you know that if there is even a sniff of someone wanting him, JLFJR probably makes the move to up his pay take steps to keep him around

I'm not even worried. Even if he decided to leave, I think we're at the point where we would be able to get somebody else pretty exceptional as a replacement. We're going, where we're going and Barber can take us there or somebody else can. And if it is somebody else, maybe they can do something about basketball

It wouldn't be about money. That's his alma mater.

I don't know JB -- but if your alma mater calls, you probably going to listen... Also their football goes to bowl games, LU does not go to playoffs... Jimmy Bass at UNCW will be considered also.... Not saying ECU is interested in JB, but you never know... Will be interesting.

But I kinda agree with LUCONN statement --

I agree completely with his statement. Barber has done some great things but if he decides to leave, I won't be upset. I'll tell him thanks for all he's done and good luck wherever he goes. Then I'd trust that we'd bring in a great AD to move us forward.

Knowing the Barber's, I dont foresee a move by them any time soon.

Nick Floyd, Jeff Barber, and Jeff Compher are the early leaders to replace Terry Holland as #ECU AD.

+1 to Purple's comment...with the new network launching this fall Im sure regardless of the decision he will want to see it through as long as he can and if he does leave for ECU he will make sure that the new AD has all the info he needs on the process to ensure it goes off without a hitch

Besides ECU being his alma mater...Liberty > ECU in most other categories. As far as what is best for the family...how is uprooting and moving right in the middle of high school best?

Being an Alma Mater is a huge 'Besides'. You walk into a room and say 'Im the AD at LU' or 'I'm the AD at ECU'. Which has better prestige? And people move their families all the time, the kids will be fine.

+1 to PH again...here is what I said but he posted as I was finishing my counterpoint

Im sure that IF he takes the job, theyll work out an arrangement that will minimize any problems that could arise. Also, you seem to underestimate the amount of weight that ECU being JB's alma mater would have on his decision if he is offered the job.
