If you want to talk ASUN smack or ramble ad nauseum about your favorite pro or major college teams, this is the place to let it rip.

He was a winner and loved by App alum. I'm sure they will be searching for a replacement that can help them transition to FBS, in case the invite comes. Bet there are some FBS politics playing out as well.

I can understand where Jerry's coming from if true ..... App is going to have to compete for the Charlotte TV market going forward with UNC-Charlotte. UNCC will also cut into their recruiting, just like ODU will cut into VT and UVA's. North Carolina will have how may FBS schools? 7 including UNCC and App?

You sir are a nut case.

Who are you comparing him to from Liberty? Is Rashad Jennings tearing it up with his 2.8 yards per carry? :dontgetit

Well if you wanna compare Appy State football starting during the dawn of time when they were a teaching school (sarcasm).

Liberty football started in 1973 so compared to them we would surpass them in how good our football program is in the amount of years it took them to win the 3 FCS championships and fluking over Michigan. Sorry man just my opinion!!!!

We have had a couple of All-Pro players, Eric Green, Wayne Haddix. Dwayne Carson played with the Denver Broncos and scored a TD in the Super Bowl I believe. We have also had several other players in the NFL that played significant minutes. However to compare ASU success with that of LU is laughable. How many National Championships have they won, how many playoff appearances?
I played football for LU and sacrificially support them financially, so I am no hater, but try to be realistic at least.

Excactly. I'm not knocking LU's football program, but to act like they're better than one of the best FCS programs in the country is not exactly fair.

Just for the record, there are 10 former Appalachian State players who have played in NFL games this season: D.J. Smith (Packers), Mark LeGree (Bears), Jason Hunter (Broncos), Corey Lynch (Chargers), Travaris Cadet (Saints), Daniel Kilgore (49ers), Armanti Edwards (Panthers), Brian Quick (Rams), Dexter Jackson (Jets) and DeAndre Presley (Dolphins).

It was Dwayne Carswell who played for the Broncos. Went to the pro bowl one year, so he too was an all-pro.

From Wikipedia:

Dwayne Carswell (born January 18, 1972) is a retired American football tight end and offensive lineman who played from 1994-2005 for the Denver Broncos in the National Football League. He was originally signed as an undrafted rookie free agent by the Broncos in 1994.[2] He played college football at Liberty University.
Carswell won two Super Bowl rings with the Broncos in 1998 and 1999 and was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2001. His first career reception came on a five-yard pass from Hall of Fame quarterback John Elway. Carswell received the Ed Block Courage Award, after suffering season-ending internal injuries in October 2005,[3] in a car crash in Aurora, Colorado.[2][4][5] Carswell was signed by the Orlando Predators of the Arena Football League in January 2007.[1] However, he was waived the next month.[6]

All Pro and Pro Bowl selections are not the same thing. All Pro players represent the entire NFL and are selected by AP members. Players who go to the Pro Bowl represent either the AFC or NFC and are selected by players and coaches (and now fans, but not in Dwayne's day).
