RICHMOND, Va. -- Part of new Virginia Commonwealth University athletics director Ed McLaughlin's early planning has included internal discussions about exploring the addition of football. But at this point, it's not high on the priority list.

McLaughlin, who was named VCU's AD in late July, is focusing on facilities and improving the experience for athletes before considering a football study.

If I am a VCU fan who wants football, that article is actually discouraging. You can't start up an FBS program unless you are in an FBS conference. That sounds like an AD already making excuses why something hasn't moved forward 10 years from now.

Is there talk of tearing down The Diamond? The article seems to imply it.

Yes, but they have to build a new ballpark first. Still trying to work out funding.
