Let me know when they beat someone from the SEC. They got crushed by LSU last year.

it wouldn't surprise me....however Alabama is the clear #1 and Oregon is probably going to end up #2.

I've seen plenty of Dana's act and always expect to see the gimmickry figured out. But that offense was clicking last night against a reasonably stout defense. There is no way the Horns should have lost that one considering how easily they were moving the ball. But that appears to be WVU's modus operandi. Congrats.

If Bama, Oregon, and WVU win out, who gets left out?

Easy there, Tiger. The SEC hasn't exactly been much of an offensive league lately. Take the UF-LSU game yesterday as an example. There is no argument that the upper tier SEC defenses have set the standard.

Sly, how is what we saw yesterday "gimmickry"? Offensively, the Horns let a RB rush for 207 yards!! Geno Smith was his normal self. The WVU defense isn't great, but appears to be improving. I assume you were referring to the offense, though, and I don't see "gimmickry"?

Careful, you're in danger of sounding like an old hag! :)

Sorry, Sly, but this made me laugh, and it's for Purple, JK, and Jbock to enjoy.

I may be a West Virginia fan, (Liberty first), but I still have respect for the SEC. They still are the best conference.

My only question would be, how would Alabama match up against the spread offense. They're not used to seeing it in the SEC. Though Alabama may have the more talented team, could they adjust to an offensive attack like West Virginia?

The only reason LSU whipped WVU last year is because they started Jarret Lee over Jordan Jefferson. Jarret Lee was much better than Jefferson. Not to mention, Holgorson was still sweeping up after Stewart's mess.

WVA will only win the Championship if they learn how to play defense or get lucky enough and play a team with a pathetic offense, and that's not going to happen because LSU and Florida aren't going to beat Alabama or South Carolina.

Right now they might as well not even field a defense since they get scored on at will. I'm sure if there was college fantasy football, the WVU defense would rank in the top 10 for most fantasy points given up to opposing offenses. I'd be scouring the waiver wire every week trying to find available players that are playing against West Virginia.

WVU as the voter part of things won't let them jump Oregon and who knows what the secret computer formulas will spew out this season.

They have no problem putting up points against all but 2-3 SEC defenses.

Of course, it always helps when they play Southern Alabama Panhandle Community College as non conference opponents

I'd like to see WVU vs. Oregon in the National Championship. Throw out the record books.

First off, I'm a well-documented Old Hag. Second, I gave credit to the Mountaineers.

If you look back I was referring to Dana's act. I have been around his offenses for about a decade including his recent stint at UH. And yes, his offense is built on gimmickry. That has nothing to do with Saturday's game. Gimmickry can be effective until defenses adjust.
