by logic
When asked by a reporter about new AD Shawn Eichorst's 973,000 salary and why it is higher than his as Chancellor, Harvey Perlman replied -

"It must say you have a more talented athletic director than you do a Chancellor I guess (laughs), I don't know, that's the world we live in, you know, I, it's the, you're subject to a marketplace, and you either play in the marketplace or you don't play, that's what we are. So athletic salaries are higher."

"You either play in the marketplace or you don't play"

With this hire Eichorst becomes the 6th highest paid AD in the country.

It is interesting to see how the big boys do it, and Nebraska has a 90 million dollar athletic budget. Liberty has a goal to "Be what Notre Dame is for Catholics..." But is Liberty willing to pay Notre Dame type salaries? Is it possible to build a top 25 athletic department and a top 100 academic institution without paying top 25 and top 100 salaries? Can the dream be built on the back of the vision alone, or will top talent continue to leave for greener pastures?

Rumor has it that TGill is getting paid more than Chancellor Falwell -- anyone know if that rumor is true? :D
