Does anyone know if Summers stepped on the field yesterday against Denver??

I have been searching this morning and could not find anything which indicated so.

He caught one pass for 28 yards. I missed seeing it it, but it was in the second half.

He was targeted only once, but a big gainer. The Bears had 12 receivers with at least one catch.

I wonder how many times Lovie plans to have him run the fade route in the endzone...

That can't be accurate. I watched the replay on NFLN, and before the 1 catch, he was targeted on a play where he drew a pass interference call. I think those were the only two targets, but a catch and a penalty on the defense are a way to get some attention in limited playing time. The announcers raved about his catch as it was a deep jump ball and he actually used his body to go up and get it. The Bears seem like they're set, at least at their top 4, at WR but Summers may have a real shot at their practice squad.

Just going by what the game box on ESPN says. One correction, Bears had 10 receivers with at least one catch. Two others were targeted.

I thought this was going to be about The Taste of Chicago or WrigleyField...

Redskins at Chicago on Comcast right now.

Chris had a great almost-catch in the endzone at the end of the first half. He made a great grab, but was forced out of bounds. You will be happy to know that the play was a fade route into double coverage. For a second, I thought I saw Danny Rocco on the sideline.

Chris just dropped a very catchable ball in the endzone in the 3rd quarter. They have a lot of good things to say about him, but he really needs to capitalize on his opportunities in the red zone if he wants to make the team.

Summers also had a fumble on a play where he wasn't protecting the ball well running through traffic.

Yeah, that was pretty bad. After taking a look at the Bears message board, they seem to think that he will be an easy cut following his performance in the game last night. Bummer.

Rosters are being trimmed down to 75 by tomorrow. Summers got cut today. Mike Brown survived a bunch of jaguar cuts yesterday but they still have 7 more people to lose by 4pm tomorrow. Brown is battling for the last WR spot. I think the practice squad is his best bet. I don't know where Summers goes at this point. I guess he's got an agent working on that. I think that fumble hurt.

Yep. I did a lot of reading on several of the Bears message boards and just about everyone was really pulling for him based on his size. The prevailing thought after that game was that if he had pulled down the TD pass and hadn't fumbled on that nice run after the catch, he'd be on the team. All of that time he put in and it comes down to 2 plays. Bummer.

I'm really hoping he lands somewhere else soon. It just stinks that it won't be with my team!

If memory serves, he wasn't Mr Surehands here. But I could be wrong. I think the fact that the 2 plays it came down to we're such basics, that it sticks out more.

Seems like he would really benefit from a season with a coach like Schottenheimer or Fassel in the UFL.
