I stand with Chick-fil-A.

Chick-fil-A is privately owned by the Cathy family. The company president, Dan Cathy, drew the wrath of gay rights advocates and supporters when he made recent statements that some have alleged are anti-gay.

Cathy told Baptist Press that the company was unapologetically in favor of traditional marriage.

“Guilty as charged,” he said. “We are very much supportive of the family – the biblical definition of the family unit. We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that.”

In a separate interview on the Ken Coleman Show — Cathy suggested that the nation could face God’s wrath over the redefinition of marriage.

“I think we are inviting God’s judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at him and say, ‘We know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage,’” Cathy said. “I pray God’s mercy on our generation that has such a prideful, arrogant attitude to think that we would have the audacity to try to redefine what marriage is all about.”

I base my patronage of businesses on the quality of their products. That's it. If I eat Chick-Fil-A on Aug 2 am I less Christian? Am I a homophobe if I do actually eat their on the 1st? I should get credit for the money I put down for seeing Elton John in concert on the homophobe part. If we lined up the beliefs of every store we visited and only went to those that lined up with ours.....we wouldn't shop a lot.
As an addendum, I do try to patronize local business and/or business where I have friends or a relationship. But if their stuff isn't good, I don't stay.
HOWEVER, I do now boycott Chic - Fil - A for breakfast because they have reduced the size of the chicken in their biscuits!!! OUTRAGE!!!!

The truth is, most gay people could care less. Only the media and non profit activists do.

Then again, Anerica has some strange fascination over the gay issue right now...

Their "beef " is not with Chick-fil-A. It's with the Bible. Chick-fil-A is just an easier target ..... right now!

I'd say I'm friends with at least 5. But then again they're not quite as "liberal" or "radical".

IV worked side by side with gays for many years ..... A few of them turned out to be favorite co-workers. Got to know them pretty well .... well enough that the subject came up a time or two. I never hid the fact that I believe the Bible word for word. Always told them I have my sins (and plenty to go around), you have yours and I won't ever call them by any other name. Sometime we agreed to disagree .... but to my amazement most of the time we agreed. There was never a conflict .....

Nice to see he stands with something since he can't stand with a hockey team...

I don't care if what people do behind closed doors that's between them and God. I think it's ridiculous how much scrutiny Chick fil A is under, this is America and they are privately run company, they can do or say all they want as long as they treat their employees with dignity and respect. Just because you don't approve of a lifestyle doesn't mean you can't like somebody or work with them.
I'm sure this will blow over with time...hopefully.

Man, if I based what I ate on what the company's leaders support then I would be very, very limited in my eating choices haha.

I surmise the media's attention to this has been a boom for business as opposed to their possible desire for some sort of boycott.

Of course it has, its free advertising! I am not the biggest chic fil a fan, but now all I want is a spicy chicken sandwich! haha

Anyway, it's not so much about his stance but rather that money is being funnelled into organizations that are promoting discriminatory policies.

I would also like to state that I think the mayors of Boston and Chicago are out of line. They are free to oppose Mr. Cathey's views, but to block a restaurant for its stance on an issue is a violation of the first amendment.

I do appreciate the logic and ability you take at times to make comments without allowing emotion to enter into play. Using pure logic and looking at what was said it is quite obvious this was a opportunity for the media to create some news stories in what must be a slow news period.

All of this is pure silliness.

I think that the Cathy family has the right to any opinion they want to hold.

I think Chickfila is a private company with a non-profit arm that donates millions to anti-gay political lobbies and organizations. You just have to look at the Form 990 for WinShape to see this.

I think that they are a privately owned company makes my decision about giving them my money much different than their publicly owned competition.

I think that if I were gay (or in support of gay rights) and someone asked me on the street to donate even a nickel to one of those organizations, I'd be insulted, so why would I do the same thing based on where I choose to eat a meal?

I think if I was not in support of gay rights, this would be an easy way to donate money to the cause.

I do not think it's a silly or unimportant thing for either side. I just think there are several aspects to consider and most people can't get past the taste of fried chicken to consider them.
