Let the Jeff Barber watch begin. We all know his ties to USC, and I think he is a prime candidate. This might be the only job that he would leave Liberty for right now.

I just don't see him leaving right now. He's right in the middle of some BIG things. Just don't see it. He's not going anywhere right now.

Rooster,
With all due respect. Bigger things happen in the SEC! If he is offered the job and doesn't take it I would be shocked, stunned, confused...etc. You get the point.
It's like playing single A ball and getting promoted to the Major's and you telling them that I'm happy with riding the bus 6 hours to the next ballpark, so I'm not interested I'll just stay in Single A. You have to be smarter than that... At least I hope you are.

I get your point GMTM, and I know very little about the AD position that Barber withdrew his name from at LSU, but it was the SEC and he withdrew. So its not completely moronic to think it possible him staying at LU.
My money says he goes if he is offered.

A.D's withdraw their names when they have been told they are NOT going to get the job.
They do it to save face. Its the same for every single coaching search!!!! Barber was a candidate but was not going to get the job at LSU.

If JB got offered the spot there's no doubt in my mind he takes it. He's done a lot of good things for LU, but being an AD in the SEC trumps being an AD at LU. It's not even close.

I don't really care one way or the other. I'd hate to see him leave, but we'll find a high quality replacement if he does.

My hope is Hyman leaves, Tanner takes the job, and SC comes for Toman. It's a pipe dream though.

As of now the plan is for S.C to offer Tanner. Which they would certainly have to bump up his $$$. Hyman was making right at $500k and Tanner got a raise last year to $649k a year. Hearing that S.C will then look to promote Holbrooke to replace Tanner... All is certainly fluid, but Barber is still a candidate. None of them will go on the record at this point which is certainly to be expected.

I would imagine they will try to stay in house, but I guess you never know.
I doubt JB gets a job offer but you've got to think he will at least put his name in the hat and if they come calling he will leave LU for SC. I don't consider that being a trader of any kind, but that would have to be his dream job.
I also think if he left it wouldn't hurt us much with the kind of money we have flowing into our Athletic Dept i think we would be able to find a good AD to fill the spot and maybe even a better one because its not like JB is the best AD of all time he has just done a good job managing the blessings he has been given.

Darryl Slater on Twitter:
Ray Tanner to be named USC AD and Chad Holbrook is being promoted to head baseball coach to replace him, per multiple reports.
Now Hush!
