Florida State & Oklahoma as the 1-2 teams. He has not announced his top two pics yet, but by process of elimination it is going to be FSU & OU. Thoughts? He didn't pick an SEC team. Could it be a championship game without an SEC team?

(I guess he figures the SEC west will beat up on each other this year. Hopefully he's wrong. ROLL TIDE!)

I am a Florida St fan but thats a joke. How can anybody pick FSU as a top 2 pick and then be taken seriously?

Returning players, OL experience, schedule toughness etc. He's not saying FSU is a top 2 team in college football, he's saying the other factors put them in position to finish top 2 in the convoluted ratings system.

If you don't take Phil Steele seriously, then you haven't been paying attention to the best college football coverage in the country. He's not always right, but his methodology and predictions are better than anyone else covering the sport year in and year out.

I guess Phil Steel feels that there is a good chance of FSU running the table. If they do that, there is a REAL good chance they will be in the top 2. He is likely also thinking OU will run the table. If the SEC west teams beat up on each other, there you go. Sounds legit to me.

Often the pre-season polls are unrealistic. Steel is predicting that the AP pre-season poll will have LSU #1 & BAMA #3. He also has the AP pre-season poll with USC #2 & Oregon #4. While it is possible for the FINAL post season polls to end up in that order, it is unlikely. Phil Steel's rankings represent where he thinks the season will end up.

I think Vtech might have the best defense in the country in terms of returning talent....
